Guest scottj Report post Posted November 22, 2010 All right, I know that we're still selling these seats but why in the hell is nobody going to sit in em? It seems pretty bad this year... I haven't been looking too closely at the attendance but it does look pretty bad... n I'm getting really sick of people doggin on the wings cause nobody shows up
Theophany 110 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 If it's the lower bowl, it's likely business seasons tickets that aren't getting used. Nothing you can really do about that.

dropkickshanahans 463 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 You think that's bad go to a Piston's game. Me and my buddies were able to get tickets in the upper level for $2 a piece and there was still not that many people at the game when Boston came to town. Suh and Best were there though
Barrie 900 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I was at the Oct 30 game against Nashville, and it looked like the upper bowl was only 2/3 full.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 Remember the days when the economy was flourishing, the Wings were the new elite team on the block after going decades without any success, and the locals had plenty of time and money on their hands? Boy those days were nice.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 It's sad watching the games on TV and seeing how quiet it is compared to other arenas in the NHL. The fans only seem to make noise when the Wings score a goal. No crowd atmosphere at all during the game.
InKennyWeTrust 126 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 From the very little I've seen on TV, it's actually seemed better than in the past two years. Of course, I haven't seen much this year and, on top of that, I'm really hammered right now and can't process whatever the hell Katie Couric is saying... maybe I shouldn't even be commenting? 1 wings1110 reacted to this

Lidstrom for life 20 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 According to ESPN the attendance for the 6 game home stand looked like this: Calgary: Attendance: 19,636 (97.9% full) Minnesota: Attendance: 20,066 (100.0% full) St Louis: Attendance: 20,066 (100.0% full) Colorado: Attendance: 20,066 (100.0% full) Edmonton: Attendance: 20,066 (100.0% full) Phoenix: Attendance: 19,207 (95.7% full) Obviously it hasn't actually been 100% full so I assume that ESPN gets these numbers based on the number of tickets sold not actual attendance. I think Theophany is right and most of the empty seats are the ones owned by corporations that go unused. http://espn.go.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=301121005

Guest scottj Report post Posted November 22, 2010 like I said I haven't gotten too good a look but from some of the views I've seen I wasn't too impressed... but if you people are gonna say that it looked pretty full when you were there then I'll take your word for it
Guest Heaten Report post Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Wish there was a way to get in good with the cooperations that are season ticket holders for the lower bowl section.... then you can get good free seats One of my companies was a season ticket holder for a local sport and I got to go to games pretty much whenever I wanted for free. I agree with the other people who said they should move people down if nobody shows up to claim the seats. Other arena do that, hence why those arena's look full on TV. I haven't been looking too closely at the attendance but it does look pretty bad... n I'm getting really sick of people doggin on the wings cause nobody shows up Economic conditions, corporate suits who purchase lower bowl tickets and don't go to the games, etc. Same as every year. And plenty of professional franchises are struggling all across the board. The NBA New Orleans Hornets down here are off to an 11-1 start and I believe only 1 or 2 games have been sold out so far. SetecX 139 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 I will gladly do my duty to fill any empty seat anywhere that goes unused by some corporate person. If you paid for it and are going to let it go to waste, I will help justify your cost by putting a body in the seat. I'll even like your company and talk about it. Even if it is your business to kill kittens. Just sayin lol.
joshy207 156 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 The Olympia Room doesn't help either... every warm body in there during the game represents a cold, empty seat.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 I tried to buy tickets for a game a month away and I couldn't get anything besides upper bowl. I agree with this statement. I was at my kid's doctor today and he offered me a single ticket to any game. I can't believe he has them and lets them go to waste. But I'm sure it has something to do with the ability to get playoff tickets. Even though he's got enough connections with the Wings. I tried to buy tickets for a game a month away and I couldn't get anything besides upper bowl. The corporations do tend to buy up the prime real estate and I've found it hard to get those seats unless you know someone. There should be a way for us that really do want to go to the games to get our hands on those tickets. If you're going to spend the money on the ticket and not go, at least let someone use them. Its not like they check tickets. Pretty much every game I go to a game during the regular season, I just buy the cheapest tickets I can get, and then find myself a couple of empty seats down in the lower bowl. If some suit decides to show up for 5 minutes during the 2nd period, just move over to the next empty seat.
Guest scottj Report post Posted November 23, 2010 When they were announcing the players before the game at the home opener the crowd got rowdy a couple times... on FSN, it sounded like like there were 5 people cheering. They need to fix that. I think I've notice that translating to in-game audio also
