Matt 1,049 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 @cmccosky (Chris McCosky) "On further review, looks like Kris Draper is out for #Wings. Hudler in, Miller in." Reporter for Detroit News. He's skating with Flip and Abdelkader in warmups.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 4th line has been great. If this is true, it's a bad move by Babs.
IllinoisRedWingsFan 49 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 Not a good move unless Draper is injured or something.

DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 this is proving to be a bad decision. we have 1 player who can win a faceoff (Z), when we used to have 3. Z,D,D.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 Hudler played well in the beginning, but disappeared later in the game.
jollymania 162 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 Hudler played well in the beginning, but disappeared later in the game. he was actually physical though later in the game so i think he replaced draper well
dobbles 252 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 i think he had a good game. generated some chances, made some plays, and even took the body a couple times. (not saying he laid anyone out, but at least he took the man)
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 I have no sources or what not, just a guess from me, but I'm guessing a good bit of this had to do with matchups and having the last line change being at home. That being said, Hudler had a very solid game. I am guessing though and would not be surprised if they put Draper back in for game 7, another natural centerman and not having the last line change, etc. And Franzen's status doesn't really have much to do with this current roster shakeup. I think Modano still gets the nod to replace him first if he can't go.

He's only been a winger since moving to Detroit, because Babcock likes size in the middle. NQA.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 Actually he likes skating ability up the middle, and being the first forward on the backcheck.

You have to stop looking at every response in here regarding Hudler as being an attack on your boy.
evilzyme 769 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 I think Hudler played a good game yesterday, he was out there to prove he could actually continue in the lineup. Modano did alright but more than what Mule could bring to the table right now considering his injury. I did miss Drapes speed though with Helmer. I'm not sure who I would use come game 7, I guess thats what Mike Babcock is for anywho!
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted May 11, 2011 I was not happy when I realized that Draper was out for Hudler, but to be honest Hudler wasn't all that bad. He didn't hurt the team and made a couple nice plays. Unless Draper is injured, I don't see the logic behind scratching him for Hudler. The Helm line works great with him on it, he's a good face off guy which we need now that Datsyuk can't take faceoffs. Draper is much better defensively. Not sure about that switch, but hey we won, so that's all that really matters at this point.
