Guest Grayne Wetzky Report post Posted June 1, 2011 It's not going to happen. Next. Were Bostonians saying the same thing about Bourque? and by the way, Do you have all the events of your "records" underneath your tampa bay picture documented? That would be funny to see. Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Were Bostonians saying the same thing about Bourque? and by the way, Do you have all the events of your "records" underneath your tampa bay picture documented? That would be funny to see. Bourque left Boston for a serious Cup run. The Bruins were not a contender at the time he left. Lidstrom's situation is different. Detroit is a contending team every year. 3 IrishWing19, ogreslayer and Greatness=PavelDatsyuk reacted to this

That would be funny to see. The situations are worlds apart. Bourque was a non-contender and left with the graces of both management and fans to pursue a cup before his career ended. Lidstrom is on a contender and has multiple cups already. 4 Greatness=PavelDatsyuk, Redwings 1926, IrishWing19 and 1 other reacted to this
LeftWinger 5,130 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) Here is a guarantee, if Lidstrom signs with Tampa, then Weber will sign with Detroit... this COULD happen, but I think I would win the mega-millions before either happened (which also COULD happen) I believe that you have a better chance of the United States Government confessing the truth behind 9/11 than any of that happening though...sorry... edit: The question wouldn't be if you will still like Lidstrom, the question would be would you still like Yzerman for poaching our best defensman of ALL TIME... Dave 324 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I negged a few people in this thread because they care too much about putting people down rather than having a fun little discussion. But, I don't know. I'd probably rather he just retire than sign somewhere else. He has little to gain in going to tampa so it would feel like a betrayal. But if he isn't here (either retirement or this) then next year will be very interesting on the blue line.

EDIT: Yeah yeah yeah, I know what you are going to say, "Then why did you respond in the first place, blah blah blah yackity shmackity." Captain Obvious Answers to YOU are not that way to everyone else. I thought Holmstrom was done 4 years ago and kept telling everyone that his roll on the team was diminishing. It was OBVIOUS to me that he was benefiting from playing on a line with Datsyuk and Zetterberg, but really not bringing much value to the team other than a good power play presence in front of the net. It took people on here 2 years to see this CAPTAIN OBVIOUS point and start saying things like "Holmstrom should be pp/4th line specialist". It's now acceptable to post something like that, but would get you banned if you did it in 2009. So let's just remember that this is a DISCUSSION FORUM. I have no problem with people not wanting to discuss things, but just putting up stupid little retorts to anything that YOU FEEL is an obvious answer really doesn't make this place any better. It's just annoying. the world would definitely end,if lidstrom signs with lightning. Yah, I would be crushed. I was kind of hoping to see if people would not like Lidstrom anymore or if they would be happy for him. That whole Bourque thing was super strange, and the Lebron thing is totally strange too. I wonder if Lidstrom left and won a cup with his new club, if Red Wing fans would be happy for him. Or if they would burn his jersey or stuff like that. Bourque was a non-contender and left with the graces of both management and fans to pursue a cup before his career ended. Lidstrom is on a contender and has multiple cups already. HOCKEY MATTERS 167 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I don't think that word means what you think it means. from wiki: In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory[citation needed], extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted". 2 Greatness=PavelDatsyuk and IrishWing19 reacted to this

It's just annoying. What does Tomas Holmstrom have to do with anything regarding this? Two completely different situations. You are talking about a guy who fights injuries years and years ago to a guy who is relatively healthy most of his career. The only thing that is similar between the two is they've played for the same team their entire career. Apples and oranges bigtime. Spare me the discussion b.s. When you ask any obvious question that's going to get a no duh response from pretty much everybody, expect responses to not always be so pretty. To you and Dave, the world isn't a ray of sunshine all the time, don't expect everybody to agree with you or say nice thoughts all the time. 4 Greatness=PavelDatsyuk, Dave, Redwings 1926 and 1 other reacted to this
