My first thought was that this guys was fabian brunnstrom, as a it is apparent english isnt his native language. Anyway, it would be cool if it happened but not likely.

Nice optimism, but considering NONE of the Red Wings established forwards even hit 30 goals last season, I find it unlikely a guy that spent time in the AHL is going to come in and score 35.

Sure, why not set the bar as high as possible? I mean the guy did struggle to make the Leafs, though, so let's try and be realistic here.

I don't see why we would need Brunnstrom for that. It's a pretty widely accepted fact around LGW that if Hudler were to play on Datsyuk's wing for the entire season he would also put up 35 goals.

I'm happy to see that he'd be happy to play with the Griffins is that is where he ends up. His attitude seems to have had a 180 since 3 years ago, which only spells good things for him.

My thoughts exactly... his chances of making the Wings roster this season are slim to none and slim isn't looking so good, but that doesn't mean he can't compete like a beast in camp, earn a contract and show why he belongs here NEXT year in GR this season... his attitude seems, like you said, like it did a complete 180 and that's all a player needs to thrive in the Wings system - work ethic and a good attitude.

As for being on Datsyuk's line, as touched on in the other thread, I'm elated that Eaves is getting a shot in camp to anchor that RW slot on Dats line and I really hope he wins and keeps that slot... now, Eaves could possibly actually get to 35 goals (even though, as others touched on - 35 is a VERY lofty aspiration for anyone) given top 6 minutes playing with Dats all year, he has one of the most under-rated shots in the league and a nose for the net...

I would agree with that. Honestly Homer shouldn't have gotten that extra year on his contract. Brunnstrom could be our new Sammy but with better offensive talent if he learns how to play defense.

Homer is a cheap, powerplay specialist with near unrivaled skills at what he does. I'd still take Homer over Sammy, everyday and twice on Sunday.

The thing with the Wings this year is we lack offense we can count on past Pav and Hank. Our suppossed secondary scoring options are either extremely streaky (Hudler, Franzen, Bertuzzi) or injury prone (Cleary, Filppula). Homer offers a unique skill set, unrivaled powerplay skills, playoff experiance, and a low salary for it all. This will almost certainly be his last year, but given our streaky, injury prone forwards and inexperiance of the next wave (Mursak, Tatar), I'm glad he is signed for this year.

Wow, amazing to think how all of this has come full circle. I remember sitting in my college dorm room reading about how half the league was pursuing Brunnstrom after they found out he was Swedish and Detroit was looking at him. Then he went to Dallas for the guaranteed ice time. Leino was brought in and sucked (while he was here, he sucked) and was shown the door. Now here we are three years down the road and we're talking about Brunnstrom earning a spot on the team, which was considered highly unlikely by most people I talked to. I don't know if there was really a point to this post, I just thought how everything worked out was cool. Kenny got his man, even if it took 3 years, and that's why he's the best GM in the league.

I liked his hustle at camp...he worked hard. The last day (Thursday) after they were done scrimmaging, he was out on the ice with Brendan Smith and Pasha, and the three of them were down at the other end of the ice doing keep away drills. Pasha was teaching them, and Fabian was watching every move he made and soaking up every bit of advice he was given. And he's a very quiet, nice kid. I like his chances for being in GR - I think he's earned a place.
