He needs icetime to boost his confidence. That's his problem. Lack of confidence.

Even getting a roster spot would be a terrific result...
Ken Holland: He’s (Mursak) a young guy, provides energy, can skate, he’s a puck hound.

My thoughts exactly... his chances of making the Wings roster this season are slim to none and slim isn't looking so good, but that doesn't mean he can't compete like a beast in camp, earn a contract and show why he belongs here NEXT year in GR this season... his attitude seems, like you said, like it did a complete 180 and that's all a player needs to thrive in the Wings system - work ethic and a good attitude.I'm happy to see that he'd be happy to play with the Griffins is that is where he ends up. His attitude seems to have had a 180 since 3 years ago, which only spells good things for him.
As for being on Datsyuk's line, as touched on in the other thread, I'm elated that Eaves is getting a shot in camp to anchor that RW slot on Dats line and I really hope he wins and keeps that slot... now, Eaves could possibly actually get to 35 goals (even though, as others touched on - 35 is a VERY lofty aspiration for anyone) given top 6 minutes playing with Dats all year, he has one of the most under-rated shots in the league and a nose for the net...
All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:
and finally
Holland is a damn good GM. period.

No....don't you know he outscored Dats while playing with him, so Hudler should score 100+I don't see why we would need Brunnstrom for that. It's a pretty widely accepted fact around LGW that if Hudler were to play on Datsyuk's wing for the entire season he would also put up 35 goals.

"I’ve been impressed with him since Day 1," Cleary said. "Big kid, in good shape. Certainly handles the puck well, sees the ice well. He’s got a nice, little shot."
"With Bruno, I think it’s going to be his play away from the puck that’s going to determine (his fate)," Cleary said. "I’ve always believed that you can teach a guy defense. Offense, you can’t teach what he’s got. He’s got good instinctive skills."
"I sure thought he was good tonight," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said of Brunnstrom. "We’re going to watch over a period of time. But every time you put your equipment on, if you do positive things you’re setting yourself up, so I was impressed with him tonight.
"He skates better than I expected, hangs onto the puck and makes some plays."

I would agree with that. Honestly Homer shouldn't have gotten that extra year on his contract. Brunnstrom could be our new Sammy but with better offensive talent if he learns how to play defense.Datsyuk + Brunnstrom > Datsyuk + Holmstrom?

Homer is a cheap, powerplay specialist with near unrivaled skills at what he does. I'd still take Homer over Sammy, everyday and twice on Sunday.
The thing with the Wings this year is we lack offense we can count on past Pav and Hank. Our suppossed secondary scoring options are either extremely streaky (Hudler, Franzen, Bertuzzi) or injury prone (Cleary, Filppula). Homer offers a unique skill set, unrivaled powerplay skills, playoff experiance, and a low salary for it all. This will almost certainly be his last year, but given our streaky, injury prone forwards and inexperiance of the next wave (Mursak, Tatar), I'm glad he is signed for this year.
