Dave 324 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Certainly the Wings' non-first line players are outclassed by the Sharks'. Pretty surprised Cleary hasn't been demoted yet. Even when the Wings were winning he was not contributing much. And seeing as the second line has also cooled off, it's time to mix it up. I said it last year, the sharks are just flat out better than the wings. There's really no other way you can put it.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Honestly though maybe it would be good for the Wings to be bad one season and get a draft pick that can actually produce the year he is drafted and not 6 years later. Any chance we get Andrew Luck? 2 dropkickshanahans and PaZel reacted to this

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 I swear to god Babcock better take Cleary off the top line. I don't care if its back to back night tomorrow night, Homer better play because he had a great game tonight when with Pavs and Z. Cleary was garbage. He does not have a point in 6 games playing with Pavs and Z and does not deserve it. Homer finds ways to get to lose pucks, which he did multiple times tonight, and give the puck to his linemates. All in all, besides that, the game was frustrating to watch because we deserved to win it. We had a goal called off again, and again that was the turning point of the game and costed us. Bertuzzi needs to take Cleary's place on the top line. He has more talent than Homer and Cleary, yet he's playing with Helm and Eaves. How the hell is anyone going to score points from playing with Helm and Eaves? Bertuzzi is being wasted on the 3rd line.

LeftWinger 4,963 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Analysis of the last play, IF Ian White hits Clowe instead of reaching for the puck, Clowe cannot get the pass back to #9, who in turn doesn't get the pass to Thornton for the empty netter. May not have won the game for Detroit, but would've prevented to 4th goal. Babcock better mix this team up a lot more, 1 is an incident, 2 is a habit, 3 is a problem and they just lost 3 in a row. Not calling for trades, just some lineup changes. Like I said, if White is more physical at the end, they don't get that 4th goal. I like White, but he just needed to be physical instead of playing the puck...

I like White, but he just needed to be physical instead of playing the puck... Indeed, White didn't have a good game. I appreciate what he's brought so far, but on the power play it's clear that he doesn't have the offensive instincts of Rafalski. Not that I was anticipating that he would, but the difference is noticeable.

How the hell is anyone going to score points from playing with Helm and Eaves? Bertuzzi is being wasted on the 3rd line. There is NO way Bert should get a promotion on his current form. He's floating and he's not creating any scoring chances. Until he raises his effort levels, he's not moving up lines, if anything he should be demoted. I am still confused about what Eaves actually offers..never see him doing much of anything besides getting away with elbowing guys. Seriously? He's not here to be a big scorer, he is here #1 for his work on the PK (was excellent in blocking shots today), to provide energy and to occasionally score. Out of all the players to have a crack at, you go for Eaves, really?
wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 I understand the idea of Bert being on the top line, but having Homer on the line keeps it simple for the Eurotwins. Bert has more skill, yes, but he does not win the puck battles that Homer does in the offensive zone. Homer gets the puck to PAvs and Z, and then goes to the net and lets them work their magic. It's simple, it works over and over again, so I do not understand why Babcock refuses to do it.

You can't have him playing on the top line every other game. Breaks chemistry that way. Edited October 29, 2011 by GMRwings1983

dats13owns 157 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Do you know what I like about the Red Wings? In my 15+ years as a fan, I've never seen them miss the playoffs, raise four Cups, produce some of the best players that this and any generation will ever see, do the unthinkable and put teams together like 2002 and even the 2008 squad in the salary cap era that missed another cup by one game, a GM who doesn't make knee-jerk reactions and trade assets for rentals and has faith that the team's they have will be successful. The negativity on this board blows my ******* mind. The Wings haven't had it easy like the Hawks, Penguins and Capitals who have put their fans through hell while piling up draft picks that finally led to some success. They put good teams together with good late drafting and signing key free agents. No wonder no one respects Wings fans... the comments on this thread just confirm the fact that everyone thinks that they're arrogant, spoiled fans. It's three weeks into the ******* season... knock this s*** off. I don't care if the Wings win it all or miss the playoffs, I'll continue to watch these guys do this thing and enjoy Lidstrom's potential last season while everyone attempts to kill themselves after EVERY SINGLE LOSS. 4 Electrophile, P. wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Homer is not an every other game player. And Babcock's philosophy is off this season so far. He needs to make better decisions with his lines. A couple years ago, Cleary getting 0 points in 6 games with PAvs nad Z, playing as bad as he has been, would not STILL be on that line. Homer played a great game tonight, and when he was out there with Pavs and Z tonight, they were all dominant every shift. IMO, starting tomorrow night, Homer should be on that line, and I would not mind to see cleary be a healthy scratch tomorrow night. He is a great player, but maybe he needs a game to clear his head. 1 bentcobra reacted to this

wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Seriously guys, can we agree that Kenny needs to make some sort of move by the deadline if we are to beat the sharks in a 7 game series? I mean it is pretty evident that we need help beyond just 13, 40 and 5.
