NHL.com Standings

NHL.com Preview

Chicago brings a 10-8-1 road mark into Motown and will aim to prevent its Original Six rival from bumping its home win streak to 14 games -- which would match Detroit's franchise record set in 1964-65.

(...)

"Afternoon game in Detroit, you don't have to say too much," Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "We had two games here, now we go into their building. They play well at home. We know the importance and the meaning of it. You look at the standings in our division. It's tight.
It's meaningful. (There's) a lot of implications at the end of the season, where you're at."

(...)

"The Central here is very tight at the top between us, St. Louis and Chicago," Howard said. "Points are at a premium, so every single night we've got to find a way to get them. Every single night, it's tough to win."

Injury report: The Blackhawks' Sharp (upper body, hand/wrist) is on injured reserve for up to three more weeks and Carcillo (ACL) is done for the season. … The Red Wings' Todd Bertuzzi (back/groin) will be a game-time decision and Patrick Eaves (fractured jaw) is on injured reserve.

Edited by P. Marlowe, 13 January 2012 - 07:48 PM.

"Finger-pointing is easy. In some cases, even therapeutic. Fans need to blame something,

because the outcome is so frustratingly out of their control."
-- Mitch Albom

Just saw that Carcillo is done for the year with a torn ACL. Sucks for the Hawks but I feel no sympathy for them.

He shouldn't be allowed to do national broadcasts that involve Chicago.

First game I ever went to was a Hawk vs Wing game. We lived in Chicago at the time and my Dad said, " the team in the Red and White is the team we are rooting for. See that 19, he's our boy. See that 91, he is magic. " I was 10 years old at the time. My Dads funeral is today so I will be missing the game, but I hope my Dad is on Gods good side and we come out with a regulation win. That's what he'd want. Go Wings!!!!!!!!

This is the kind of game that makes me appreciate the mute button. I like Doc, but Eddy and Pierre? If I hear Eddy say "Nice stick there by (Insert players name)" I'm gonna call up Al MacInnis, and have him slap shot a basketball through my TV screen.

Slightly off-topic, but is it true that if you get to the Joe early enough before a game you can go right down to the glass, even if your seats are upper level? Been there a few times but never thought of this until a friend mentioned it.

If they go with the same lineup again, its gonna be a rough night.

Guess babs believes he has a better chance against teams with kindl in, instead of commie, even though with commie, ericsson plays hellavu lot "bigger" so in reality, when he puts Kindl in, he takes BOTH Commie and Ericsson out

Once again, split up helm and cleary you are gonna see what your gonna get...more of the same from last few games...I just do not understand.

Up early to head across state for the game. Last game I went to we beat Winnipeg 7-1, so hoping for a repeat performance.
