SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted January 24, 2012 While money helps with the problem, it's not the end of all end solutions. I'd also be wanting to do something I enjoy and make a living or money doing it as much as I can, no matter how rich or well off I was. I don't like Crosby like pretty much everybody else in here and don't pay attention much when he is talked about anymore because it is overbearing at times, I get the recent history between the two teams in here, but it'd be nice for him to play again simply because it is what he does for a living. I am implying nothing more and nothing less. I'm not overadvocating for him to be out there, and on the flip side I'm not going to the other extreme basically telling him to f off like some in here have gone too far with. If that makes me some kind of Crosby apologist to others in here, well that's not my issue.
Yzguy 20 Report post Posted January 24, 2012 One more thing. WE THOUGHT during the 2008 & 2009 Cup Finals that Malkin was the better Pen. And right now Malkin is showing that he IS ALSO the best player in the league (sorry, Pav) so far this season.
henrik40 76 Report post Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) Interesting series of tweets from Bob McCown: FadooBobcat Bob McCown Sydney Crosby has injury to C1 and C2 vertebrae FadooBobcat Bob McCown Injury diagnosed during recent trip to Utah, but apparently missed by Pittsburgh doctors who were treating him. FadooBobcat Bob McCown Drs expect Crosby to heal and be ready for playoffs. Unclear if he even suffered 2nd concussion. Sid said to be very unhappy with Pit docs. I see this as great news for the league, but awful news for the Pens doctors. Edit: I'm assuming the vertebrae injury happened with the original concussion and had it been found/addressed, he wouldn't have had any issues after he came back in December. The Pens medical staff has to be completely embarrased right about now, but they seem to have screwed up several times. Let's not forget that they let him play, not only the 3rd period in the Winter classic, but the next game as well...after likely having broken his neck and suffering a oncussion. I understand the neck thing just came out now, but even without that, they should have learned from Crosby's concussion, yet this year, they let Letang go back in a game after taking a pretty wicked head shot. Sure enough, within the next few days, he's out with a concussion. Someone really should be fired. 1 Rick D reacted to this
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted January 29, 2012 So, HWSNBN has for all intents and purposes, a broken neck? A broken neck that his team's medical staff failed to notice? Okay, I'm not a doctor (though I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express), but how the holy fracking frack do you miss a broken neck? I mean, does Pittsburgh not own any x-ray equipment or MRI equipment? I'm genuinely interested in how something like that could be missed.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) Jan. 5, 2011Because Crosby shows no signs of a concussion following the Steckel hithe complains only of neck painhe is cleared to play at home four nights later against Tampa Bay. During the an 8-1 Penguins victory over Tampa Bay, Crosby is driven hard into the boards by Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman. This is what makes things worse for the medical staff, I could understand not looking for possible neck problems for no reason....but ummm....Pens medical staff.....what the hell? Oh and how does Crosby and Brady become friends? I don't see the connection. Link Edited January 29, 2012 by toby91_ca

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted January 29, 2012 (Disclaimer: This is NOT my opinion, only something I've read around the internets.) Some people are theorizing that the Pittsburgh docs aren't 100% at fault, but instead were ultimately pressured by Crosby to allow him to keep playing after the Steckel hit. Some people are theorizing that the Pittsburgh docs aren't 100% at fault, but instead were ultimately pressured by Crosby to allow him to keep playing after the Steckel hit. That's a serious breach of medical ethics if true and could lead to them losing their licenses.

I'm not sure about that, but wouldn't doubt it for a second. That's what players do and that is why you need to try and keep them out of the decision process. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 29, 2012 I'm not sure about that, but wouldn't doubt it for a second. That's what players do and that is why you need to try and keep them out of the decision process. The thing is even if it were true (though it sounds more like Crosby hate than anything legit), Crosby has no leverage to pressure doctors unless the coaching staff and management were backing him up. They're the ones who ultimately employ the team doctors. If it's just him saying "I need to get back out there" but the management trusts and abides by the doctors' opinions, then there's not anything even Sidney Crosby can do to change it. Players are almost always going to want to play. That's why they're supposed to be the ones not making the decision.
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted January 29, 2012 They're saying he had a neck injury and it's healed...yet he's still not 100%, so it just goes back to the concussion thing. Sure they missed the neck injury, but it still seems to me that the concussions were the real problem, unless I'm completely missing something.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted January 29, 2012 I find it hard to believe that doctors missed the neck injury for 13 months. I think it's just something being said to give Pittsburgh and Crosby fans hope he's coming back.
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted January 30, 2012 A word about the doctor's missing something. Does anyone think that possibly its the Pittsburgh organization pressuring the doctors at all to get Crosby back on the ice??? Lets face it the Pens organization is paying these doctors and I could see this organization pulling somethingh like that. I'm certain that this is not the only time this has happened in sports with a star player and a team. Just doesn't seem like a team of doctors would simply let a injured player go back on the ice knowing what they knew. Like someone else stated, these doctors would lose their license if they allowed an injured player to continue on the ice or anyone for that matter. Call me a skeptic I guess. 1 edicius reacted to this

cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted July 21, 2012 From The Globe and Mail: The doctor who was at the centre of at least some of the controversy surrounding the treatment of Sidney Crosby’s concussion problems has parted company with the Pittsburgh Penguins. ... Kira 451 Report post Posted July 21, 2012 One thing that I find really interesting in all this is that the Neurology wing of UPMC (in Pittsburgh) is rated one of the best in the country. So why is he going all the way to California? Unless he already went there, got news that he didn't want to hear and wants a second opinion. He wants a second opinion? Okay, here ya go - you're ugly too. 2 Hockeymom1960 and Drake_Marcus reacted to this

Vladifan 680 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 Look at this as good news. We'll finally discover if he has one or not!
