Ok, trade Filppula plus for Ryan....enough to gain Cap space...sign Doan, trade for Yandle, sign Semin & Mueller.

I just don't know what the "plus" will be for Ryan or what Yandle would cost us....I think Doan and Semin will cost less than $9M together....

From what I gather, both the Ducks and Coyotes are reportedly looking for a top-6 center, plus pciks/prospects.

Fil has value, but Khan reminds us that its doubtful anyone would exchange him for a premier player because he's in the last year of his contract.

He's elgible to sign an extension. If that was the real stumbling block, let him talk to the potential team to work out an extension first.

Schultz, Parise, and Suter all went to the teams they were rumored to for MONTHS. We never had a bead on Schultz or Parise - and Suters agent is in bed with the Wild brass. A year from now we could all be laughing that Ryan Suter got paid 12 million to put up 25 points and Brendan Smith got paid 800k and put up 30. Seriously ... chill out. Our forward group is still elite, our goaltending situation has been shored up as well. We NEED a top 4 defensemen and could USE another forward that can either snipe or add grit.

Octobers a long way off. Semin would be a good start - IF he isn't demanding a long term contract. Yandle or Boumeester are both in play and Filp + extras would likely get either. Doan would be Great - and Id be happy to overpay him for a 2-3 year deal if the Yotes are headed to Quebec.

Suter was rumoured to go the Wings for Months. Everybody's been saying that.

and our forward group is the same as last year pretty much, and we had severe trouble scoring the last few months of the season.

We also badly need a top defenceman, the only one who seems to left (assuming Carle signs with tampa) is Keith yandle via trade.

It is intriguing to know that Doan agent has contacted the Wings several times...lets us know that Doan (if he leaves) wants to come to a winner...if he does it'll be fun to watch Doan get his first Cup before the bobsie twins do...

detroit is the premier destination for 35+ players.

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

Dude, you're gonna hate Semin. He's Hudler 2.0

I understand the concerns, but Hudler has never come anywhere near 70 points or 40 goals, let alone 84 points... Semin with Datsyuk will find us our first 40 goal scorer since Hossa....Doan will chip in 30...Ryan could top 100 points here with Pav or Z... Yandle will be top paring minutes and should get 40 points there...

Semin has seen a drop in production the same reason Ovechkin's did...they tried to change his game, here he will be let loose as the sniper he is... Yes I am being optimistic, but I can see it happening...but he needs to take about $4M in salary...or less.

Think of it this way. You've been turned down by the hottest girls at the bar, and now you're angry and desperate. So you turn your attention to overrating someone else at the bar, in order to get something out of the night.

That's what Holland is going to do now that Suter and Parise have turned Detroit down. We don't have a choice if we want to be good next season.

Well, since you put it that way, I'd go after a chick in her mid-30s. She's got experience, and still has some left in the tank. She's still looking pretty good and looking for the time of her life. I'd rather go for a girl like that as opposed to a younger girl that may or may not make it home with me. As in you can't read her well. Its hard to tell whether she's really into you and the whole deal.

What I'm trying to say is we should make a push for Shane Doan.

Why would Doan want to play in Detroit?

He's been in Phoenix his whole career, and they now have a better team than we do. His chances of winning the Cup are likely better there.
According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

I have no clue. All i know is his agent has supposedly been in contact with Holland.

Ok so here is a crazy idea, but what about Mike Komiserek? Burke has been trying to dump this guy for ever and maybe a change of scenery would do him good. He was decent with Montreal and only has 4.5M and 2 years left on the contract. With the cap going up and Kenny having a lot of cap space he could easily just dump him in the minors or buy him out if it doesn't work out.

He could be had for peanuts and Kenny could dump a couple useless bottom 6 guys on Toronto for him.

Just a thought.

The lack of ownership mess that seems to go on forever. Ray Whitney was interviewed by TSN on Sunday when he signed with the Stars, and he said that having no owner was a factor in him leaving the Coyotes....and he said that Shane Doan felt the same way.

detroit is the premier destination for 35+ players.

If it gets a Cup, then I am all for it....I can deal with getting an aging vet for a couple of years, every couple of years to put us over the top in the quest...he would still be only the 3rd player over 35+ on our team...Semin, Yandle, Mueller and Ryan are young.

FORWARDS
Alexander Semin ($4.000m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Shane Doan ($5.000m)
Bobby Ryan ($5.100m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Damien Brunner ($1.350m)
Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m) / Peter Mueller ($3.500m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m)
Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m)
Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Keith Yandle ($5.250m)
Ian White ($2.875m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m)
Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m)
Ryan Sproul ($0.925m) /
GOALTENDERS
Jimmy Howard ($2.250m)
Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,304,167; BONUSES: $745,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $3,895,833

Gone in trades are Filppula, Franzine, Mursak, Emmerton, Abdelkader, Quincey, Cleary....whatever combo gets us Yandle and Ryan, I don't care. Filppula being the main one going for Ryan and Franzine main one going for Yandle. I would say Quincey would go to Phoenix as well and Abby to Anaheim...throw in a prospect to each to sweetin the pot...Mursak, Emmeton and Cleary can go for picks for all I care....

BTW, I am going back to a dream roster in my sig, since deleting it didn't help in getting Suter...

Makes sense, but that's been going on for many years now.

Last season, they finally got over all that and made a deep playoff run. Seems like strange timing to want to bolt now.

And dont forget when you hook it up with those 35-45 year olds , there is always the chance for some crazy ass chemistry and she ends up out performing all the 20 somthings!

Might have something to do with his contract running out now and not three years ago...

Gilroy/Foster/Vandermeer for depth on Def should be considered

Actually wouldn't mind Vandermeer, I think we could get sufficient offense out of Kronwall/White/Smith/Quincey and Vandermeer would make us tougher to play against.

What I am hoping seeing as everything seems bleak:

The Wings tank, that Cleary, Eaves, and Bert all over achieve, and that the Wings sell them for 1st rounders at the deadline.

I don't think we need to panic just yet. Think about what it feels like right now to be a Preds or Devils fan. They lost two franchise players. The Wings made their pitch, and Parise and Suter decided to go elsewhere.

I agree that the Wings have a huge hole to fill on the blue line. Let's give them some time and come training camp, let's see who is out there. I'm glad they didn't try to lure Carle with the money he got from Tampa.

Ideally, I'd like to see them go after Semin and Doan (to reasonable contracts), and see if they can trade for a top 4 defenseman.

The Wings lost a generational talent... Generational talent>>>>Franchise players. Sorry but the Wings are still in a worse spot than either of the Preds or the Devils.
