ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted May 24, 2013 You know what? I would personally like to see this kind of attitude about the wives/ladies left out of these conversations. I'm guessing they go through enough crap as it is. Thank you. Should I be more explicit next time? Equating Parise as Suter's "girlfriend" in this case so no attitude about a wife/lady in my comment unless you consider Zach to be one.
Rhah 195 Report post Posted May 24, 2013 So, I am not sure if I am interpreting this wrong but Q and they Hawks just keep saying they felt they are playing fine the last two games. Whether that is true or not, shouldn't you just say you will make some adjustments and play harder in next games? I feel like them acting like they are playing fine and the same as when they were good in game 1 or the regular season they are basically just copping out and acting like they are unlucky, refs are bad, and none of the getting out worked by the Wings is their fault. Maybe its just an extension of their arrogance this whole time... I just want to keep reminding Hawk's fans that it wasn't a 24 game win streak they had... it was a 24 game, we didn't lose streak. Two hugely different things and shootout victories aren't really that big of a deal, they are circus shows.

But I did not read it that way. So yeah. For your own well-being, it would be helpful if you were more explicit so there's no chance for mis-reading what you're saying. RedLightGoesOn 81 Report post Posted May 24, 2013 Went to the game last night. Wow..... The crowd definitely had its lulls, but it got loud at times.... I was super nervous the Hawks would pounce on a mistake and tie the game/score but it never happened and we shut them down big time in the last few minutes of the 3rd. We lucked out with Jimmy being a beast. We have to play much better to put the Hawks away in Game 5.
wingsfan4795 552 Report post Posted May 24, 2013 I'm not so sure that it's because Quenneville is a mediocre coach, he's a good coach, but he's doing what any coach would do...trying to free up guys. The problem is, EVERY Red Wing forward (aside for that lovable Brunner) plays good defense. He's mixing and matching trying to find open ice for these guys but the only way he's going to get any of his top line guys free is to try and get them out there against our third line and that opens up a world of hurt the other way when Pav or Hank's line is out against your third line guys. In an interview earlier this week Quincey was talking about how Bab's has really preached "swarming" on defense, and not playing man on man. Right now Chicago has no answer for it and Quenneville is searching in vein for open ice. He's a good coach in the regular season, but he pretty much hasn't done anything in the playoffs. He won the cup in 2010, but aside from that he has never even made the finals. His teams always get bumped out early despite having some great teams. On a lighter note, quenneville has been eliminated by Detroit 5 times out of the 13 playoff teams he has coached

I know Q is trying everything he can to switch up lines to get better opportunities from his stars, but when I see a stat like Zetterberg's line getting on the ice almost 95% of the time Toews line takes a shift, then that's when a good coach has to talk to their players about will power and fighting through it because it's basically your best players versus their best players. This is where I think Q fails. If he's getting frustrated, then that's going to carry over to your best players, in this case their captain. What's everyone's mentality now when their captain is frustrated and has no answers? Who was it that skated over to Toews in the penalty box and gave him a pep talk? Why's the captain need a pep talk from another player? 1 Vladifan reacted to this

Why's the captain need a pep talk from another player? I agree. If a coach cannot get his team to realize their potential, then he isn't a top coach. Toews (as previously talked about in this thread and elsewhere many times) has some Yzerman/Sakic leadership potential, but is decending into Crosby age 19 whine-tastic territory. Q has not drawn out Toews potential to lead the Hawks through the playoffs, has not done anything about the negative attitude the rest of the players have, and the team is about to get bounced out of the playoffs. Q takes the brunt of the responsibility here. Also, I expected much more from the Bowmans (father and son). I guess we now can see how much Mr. Ilitch had to do with the Wings' "culture" through the years, when we might have assumed it was largely due to Scotty. The Ilitch Wings have been an embarrassment at times through the years, but never for the reasons the Hawks are at the moment: the best team in the league (on paper and in record) acting like a bunch of spoiled babies on the national stage. Agreed on both fronts. I think Toews problems are well, Zetterberg and Kronwall, plus being in the position of best team in the regular season. I don't remember this kind of meltdown as an underdog against the Canucks a couple years back, rather I thought he showed great leadership and fought as hard as possible to win even though they fell short in game 7. I've always believed a good, smart owner that wants to win = long term success. We've seen it with the Pistons, Tigers and Red Wings. Detroit fans have been blessed to have Illitch and the late Davidson as owners for so long. In that national writers take notice article on freep today was first time I seen someone mention that Hank and Dats have to deal with the clutch and grab constantly too...first time someone admitted it: ■ Allan Muir, si.com: When Jonathan Toews watches the tape of Chicago’s 2-0 Game 4 loss in Detroit, he should pay close attention to the play of his nemesis Henrik Zetterberg and of Zetterberg’s Red Wings teammate Pavel Datsyuk. He’ll see the two stars were subjected to a series of hooks, jabs, slashes and all manner of uncalled cheap shots, just as Toews was. He might also notice that, despite that duress, they rarely lost their cool. And really, that was the difference (Thursday). ... While Toews and the Hawks allowed their frustration to get the best of them over and over again, the Red Wings simply gritted their teeth, put their heads down and kept their focus. http://www.freep.com/article/20130524/SPORTS05/305240068/detroit-red-wings-chicago-blackhawks 1 Vladifan reacted to this
