haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 You can't get mad at Holland when a player turns down multiple contract offers. Maybe he doesn't ever want to play defense... just sayin' Agreed. I like Brunner but when he said it was about "the right fit" I wonder if that translates to "somewhere the coach won't be on my ass all the time about backchecking." 4 pucktividi, F.Michael, TimeBinder and 1 other reacted to this
St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 So bummed by Brunner not signing with us. Sort of makes sense since I thought for sure Kenny would have locked him up awhile ago.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 I hate seeing a right handed shot leaving, especially since we have so few of them nowadays. Yeah we got Alfredsson, but how many years is he going to play here?
dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 Brunner and Nyquist made an awesome 3rd line, I will miss him. 3 Z Winged Dangler, Hockeymom1960 and LidsFan reacted to this
pucktividi 472 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 Surprised he didn't sign elsewhere so far...maybe he should accept Ken's offer after all.
Datsyukian-Deke 722 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 I really hope something changes and he realizes he was home all along. I do respect that he isn't out for the money and wants to find the right fit. Makes me want a player like that even more!
stillwater 186 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 If it's not about money, he'd already be signed. 2 esteef and pazzloski reacted to this
Datsyukian-Deke 722 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 If it's not about money, he'd already be signed. Or he is taking a little time to field his offers and make the right decisions.
stillwater 186 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 That being said, signing Alfie and Weiss clearly bumps him out of the top 6 in Detroit this year ... but why not sign here and prove you belong in the top 6 next year.
TheDetroitRedWings 286 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 I know it seems pretty official that he won't be coming back. But the fact that he hasn't signed with another team yet leads me to hold out some slight hope
stillwater 186 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 Or he is taking a little time to field his offers and make the right decisions. Perhaps, but the Wings offered him 2 and 3-year deals and he decided to test the waters anyway.

pucktividi 472 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 If it's not about money, he'd already be signed. I think he wants top 6 winger spot guaranteed
stillwater 186 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 Three years isn't enough for coming off of your first season? That's what they gave Datsyuk. I think he wants top 6 winger spot guaranteed I think you're probably right, but IMO, if he signs with a s***ty team just to achieve that, he'll soon be forgotten. stillwater 186 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 Why? Zetterberg Datsyuk Alfredson Brunner Weiss Franzen At crunch time last season, he was on the 3rd line ... add Alfie and Weiss and it's not too difficult to figure out.
Datsyukian-Deke 722 Report post Posted July 6, 2013 Why? Zetterberg Datsyuk Alfredson Brunner Weiss Franzen I agree, I think he still would be a top 6 and we can still have my dream 3rd line of Helm Nyquist and Tater...aka the fastest hardest working line in the league. 1 Rivalred reacted to this

Like he'll see more than 5 seconds of line change time on the ice with Stamkos....he's not a top line player on any team in this league.

Do they have a top line center right now? Besides, there's things called injuries and powerplays. He'll get some time with those players this season. It'll be relief, after playing with dead weight like Cleary, Bertuzzi, Hudler and Franzen over the years. And yes, Filppula was often the problem on those lines as well.
