You guys don't realize that a healthy helm and bertuzzi are our "free agent" pick ups. Duh! We like our team.

The way Lecavalier has played the last few years $5M for five years is too much. Maybe for two years but not five. Lecavalier knows he'll get it somewhere so he's asking it. This is the cap world. In a few years it'll most likely turn out to be a dumb contract. You don't build your team by overpaying players who are on the decline but by underpaying young players who are on the upswing or veterans who can provide good grit and experience.

As much as I would liked to have had Vinny.  Had to be the 5 years thing that rubbed our management the wrong way.

Oh well we move on.

Not completely gutted by this.

I kinda got use to that Ken is gonna pay only for the current and former Wings players.5M/5y is a fair deal assuming freaking Hudler got 4M/5y.

I don't think Jay Feaster's moves are a good measuring stick.

Stars make a lot of sense since they lost Morrow last year. Vinny could jump into a captain role like he was with the Lightning.

Ya I'm not really buying the $5 mil thing, unless they felt he wasn't trying hard on defense. 5 years is too long for him imo.

Still won't stop this place from erupting though.

Really was hoping we landed Vinny but not a 5 year contract. A 3 year yes, but 5 is just too long in case it doesnt work out.

I'm not giving up on this until it's announced where he is going. I've gotta believe Kenny will see the light.

For everyone who is saying 33-34 is too old, let's remember that Pavel is 34 and just signed an extension everyone applauded. and Zetterberg is almost 33 and making 7 million.

My point is on terms not on hilarious Flames management

I swear......if they keep Sammy and re-sign Cleary and Filppula, and stay status quo, I am going to MELT DOWN.

The plot thickens. Dallas believes they're out too, per Aaron Ward...

https://twitter.com/...179493617668096

Sources saying Dallas Stars no longer believe they are in contention for Lecavalier.

And Dreger...

http://twitter.com/D...181156587905025

Further to @aaronward_nhl report on Lecavalier, I have also been told by a Stars source, Lecavalier has eliminated Dallas from contention.

"And the best, I must confess, I have saved for the last, for the ruler of this Christmas land,

is a fearsome king with a deep mighty voice, least, that's what I've come to understand.

And I've also heard it told, that he's something to behold, like a lobster, huge and red!

When he sets out to slay with his rain gear on, carting bulging sacks with his big great arms, that is so I've heard it said.

And on a dark cold night, under full moon light, he flies into a fog like a vulture in the sky!

And they call him Sandy Claws!

Lecavalier just realized he's set to make over $30 million doing nothing. Perhaps he's decided to retire.

Anybody else find it weird that none of the "credible" twitter feeds have said Detroit is out?
