Don't worry. It's being reported as 5 years and only $23.5 million.... So much better than 5 X $5mm wouldn't you say?

Better then 5 I guess.. too bad there still about 2 million over the cap now with Steve Mason the #1 goalie in Philly  Enjoy Vinny!

5 years, $4.5 per for Vinny in Philly confirmed.

Gosh that wouldve been perfect for us.....i dont understand Holland.....run out the same old guys that can't do s*** and expect better results. Just wait when he resigns Brunner and clearly and our only change was letting fil go for nothing.

Wowww only 4.5?? Makes it much harder to swallow now. I know the term is long for a 34 year old, but come on at 4.5 Kenny should've been able to keep us in the mix...

The thing with the current NHL is that to get that top FA you need to overpay a bit. Hollands continual reluctance too leads to what happens last year where you just end up with table scraps (Sammy and Tootoo) and the ironic thing with those two is he ended up overpaying them. Do you overpay for every free agent? No. But when your team has a glaring need and nobody to fill it yes you might have to overpay. 5/5 may sound like a lot now but come the end of the contract the cap will be back up another 10-12 million at-least. Every player that the Wings seem to have interest in this season seems to have the tag line "but the Wings dont want to match his asking price" attached to it. This organization is no longer the Wings of 96-08 where players were willing to take a discount just to come play in Detroit. With the parity in the league that advantage is now gone. You want a top FA you have to pay them like a top FA.

Or could it be that Holland offered him the same but Lecavalier just wanted to go Philadelphia? No, it can't be. We all know that every free agent first wants to go to Detroit and if Holland bungles it up like he always does they start talking to other teams.

He was under the impression, Vinny wanted to play under the radar? But 4,5 is a very loveable caphit the term is a bit llong but other than that very solid signing. Will be funny to see how the Flyers are going to re-sign B. Schenn and Giroux next year.

The thing is this isn't an opinion is a proven fact. For 4.5m what's better Vinny or cola and Sammy? I mean seriously this isn't even an arguement.

I saw a Tweet yesterday, the source escapes me but it was a typically-credible source, that said that Lightening players he had spoken to suggested that Lacavalier was still effective below the dots, but struggled to get up and down the ice. That's consistent with the 'slow pace' others have been reporting.

The Black Hawks won the cup thanks in no small part to their speed. The Wings took the Hawks to 7 games, thanks in no small part to our speed and will to win. I really don't think Vinny would have been the right fit for us... Especially on a 5 year contract. Remember, we have Jarnkrok and Sheahan knocking on the door. They're both centers.

@DaveLozo: Lecavalier: "I'm tired of playing on an offense-first team with a weak blue line and shaky goaltending. So I am signing with the Flyers."

The Flyers who have a weak blue line and shaky goaltending.

LMAO

God I hope this was intended to be humorous.

My interpretation was that this was satirical--if not? Woooo boy...

So how long until they trade Coburn and waive Grossman? Can't be afraid to have a back up goalie, oh and Giroux, Couturier and Read will be getting substantial raises after next year. Good thing Pronger has 4 years left on the LTIR. Dafuq Philly....dafuq.
