Babcock - Jack Adams Finalist

Why? They have four guys picked in the top 5 of first rounds, they should be doing well. They made it just as far as we did losing to, in my opinion, a lesser team than who we lost to. Babcock led a team with 421 man games lost to injury into the playoffs and lost to the first seed. I don't think he necessarily has it locked up.

Thanks Coach!!! You deserve the trophy for getting us into the playoffs for the 23rd straight year despite having set the record for most man games lost to injury, despite having to deal with garbage like Cleary, Sammy, Bert, Franzen etc, desptie having a revolving door of rookies in the line up. Couldn't have done it without you!!!

Babcock deserves the Jack Adams for coaching a team with a bunch of injuries into the playoffs, but Blysma coached a team with more injuries into a better playoff position AND won a round and he didn't even get nominated? I don't get it.

It doesn't matter that Bylsma won a round. Regular season award.

I think Detroit's injuries (mainly to Z and Datsyuk) were worse.

Also, Crosby's going to win the Hart and Lindsay. That's basically the writers crediting him with Pittsburgh's success.

Plus, even with the injuries, all any voting journalist had to do was look at the rosters to see that Pittsburgh were the better team all season.

Their injuries were nothing compared to ours. They had most of their big name players aside from letang. We had the highest cap hit man games by a large margin. We were missing almost our entire top 6 at one point

But I don't really see how Blysma riding Crosby all season is bad coaching, but Babs riding Nyquist into the playoffs is good coaching. In neither case was there some genius level strategy involved. Also, if you're going to (erroneously) discount Blysma's coaching because he's got (one of) the best teams around, then you should probably also discount everything Babs did between 2005-2009, since he CLEARLY had the most talented team in the world during that span. And if you're (erroneously) excluding that, then it begs the question "What's Babs ever done anyway?".

Malkin (missed 22), Neal (missed 23), and Dupuis (missed 43) all missed twenty or more games. That's three of their top six fowards. Letang and Martin both missed more than half the season. That's literally their entire top pair of defensmen gone for half a season. Our injuries weren't worse. If anything, we'll say it's a draw.

Roy should win.

Colorado has been crap for awhile, and it looks like he's turned around a good young team with a bright future.

Being a bottom feeder and collecting top pick players for x amount of years is becoming a pattern of success, doesn't exactly equate great coaching. Babcock got just as far this year with much less talent.

I will always say these post season awards are garbage. Especially the ones that the media or fans vote for. Usually the person that is the most deserving doesn't get it. That's why I totally expect Babs to not get it. People totally discount that he coached a team that players like Dats, Franzen, Z, Alfie, and Weiss missed a total of 172 games combined.

I read a few comments on the ESPN story about this and wanted to stick a spike through my brain. One person said Babs didn't deserve to be there because his team was slated to win the conference and all he did was get an 8 seed.

we were slated to win the conference?!?! Damn I missed that, must have been between the wings will trade for Stamkos and samuelsson can get us a first round pick headlines. I always thought we could possibly be top 3 in the division/conference, until the injuries started in.

At the beginning of the season us and Boston were heavily favorited in the East

I commented on that article. The conclusions people had on Babs was completely retarded!

All these awards are just a popularity contest. Most of the time the people who should don't unfortunately. :(

Happens every year in college football and basketball.
