laporte15 3 Report post Posted May 8, 2014 I don't know how you guys feel about this but I would love to see Gab be in a Wings jersey next year! By reading some post I see some aren't a fan, but when healthy he can really put the puck in the net. He's not the big guy were looking for but he does score. What's the possibilities of this happening guys? How much money? Would there be room for him? I think it also depends on Mantha especially after Babs is getting a good look at him right now. Although not possible I would swap him for Mule in a minute. At least this guy scores in the playoffs.
WingsallTheway 383 Report post Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) Gaborik in the winged wheel has been a dream of mine for like 6 years now.. I have a feeling it will happen eventually, but probably when hes 39 years old There are about three guys in the league that I feel would be unstoppable with Dats, and Gaborik is the only one that is actually feasible, with the others IMO being kane and crosby Edited May 8, 2014 by WingsallTheway

The plays they could setup would be incredible. Great shot - Check Great passing - Check High Hockey IQ and vision - Check Net Front Presence - Check Great shot deflector - Check PPG player on a bad team (Buffalo) - Check PP Specialist - Check For everything else there is MasterCard. Great shot - Check Great passing - Check High Hockey IQ and vision - Check Net Front Presence - Check Great shot deflector - Check PPG player on a bad team (Buffalo) - Check PP Specialist - Check The main factor is style of play... Sid is a FREAK along the boards which would be amazing with dats, plus he can set up/finish while not being a liability on defence. Hes also a power forward Kane is basically a dats 0.5 with less puck control/more agility so barring one of them wanting the puck more, I think they would be awesome together Vanek is soft, which does not bode well with datsyuk. He plays well with Z b/c he plays a PWF style Edited May 9, 2014 by WingsallTheway 1 Uncle Danny reacted to this

DatsyukianDekes 2,428 Report post Posted May 9, 2014 I only ask because that's not the Vanek I've been seeing Obviously not. 59P in 65GP, while being a +12 and has 7 PPG. Who needs that, not us. Let's just keep putting Abby there, he is so much better. The main factor is style of play... Please explain to me why your comparing those guys to Vanek when they would never play for the Wings? Vanek is a UFA, Sid and Kane are not.

unsaddleddonald 357 Report post Posted May 9, 2014 I think the Kings are the perfect team for him. I'm not sure we'd be a great fit. I was gonna say this. He would probably be doing HIMSELF a favor to stay in LA. They need the scoring (I guess because Dustin Brown and Mike Richards suck now at scoring?) and he has fit in pretty well. Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted May 9, 2014 Also - Gaborik makes big, big money, at least by our standards. Given the postseason he's having and how hard this summer's UFA class blows, he could probably get something like $40M/5. That's a lot for a guy who's likely going to miss a lot of time with injuries, especially when our forward leaders - Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Alfredsson - are, well, old and injury prone. I just added it to the conversation in a previous post, were all friends here. It wasn't a suggestion, just my opinion which i was clear to state Why do you think dats is always paired with players such as abby/bertuzzi/holmstrom? He doesn't like playing with skilled players; he likes big bodies that work hard and take away space along the boards... Vanek ? All Vanek brings to the table is his shot, which weve seen with Franzen isn't enough Edited May 9, 2014 by WingsallTheway

Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted May 9, 2014 You've said this a couple times. Why? Heh, sorry. I'd thought I might've said it already, but I couldn't remember. Many reasons. Mainly, we're a middling team in transition that's going to need and expect a great deal more from him than what the Kings (would) need and expect from him. They have Kopitar, Carter, Richards, Brown, Williams, and currently Gaborik. They have Doughty and Quick. They're big and mean and fast and young and pretty much awesome. They won the Cup a couple years ago and bowed out in the Conference Finals last season. They're built for playoff success. They're built to win the Cup. They're not Tortorella's Rangers, a team Gaborik never really clicked with (largely because he was counted on to be one of their very best players every night and he's just not that kind of guy). They don't need him to be a hero. We would need him to be a hero. That's a recipe for issues.

But I don’t see any difference between LA putting him Kopy’s wing and expecting him to score vs Detroit putting him on Datsyuk’s wing and expecting him to score.
