GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 What its come down to is Kindl is a bust. As a 19 overall pick 8 years into being a pro he cant top being the teams 6-7th dman. I wouldnt be surprised if Kindl was the one Babs wanted gone for XO to be on the team at the start. Kindl has been as bad this year as he was last year. His partners and Howard especially have been playing a lot better so his bonehead mistakes and bad coverage havnt costed the Wings as much as it has. I think the Wings are trying to move him. He doesnt have much value right now but if they continue to let him play that value will continue to go down.
canadian wings fan 305 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 So are Kindl's stats not reflecting how bad of a D-Man he truly is? I mean his +/- is fine and he has 2 goals which is good compared to the rest of our dmen.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 Limited minutes and the whole team is strong defensively. Clearly no one in the coaching staff or media thinks very much of him, which tells me he's not learning and reaching that potential he should have hit a couple years ago. dirtydangles 1,328 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 If you watch the 3rd ottawa goal the other night it was directly caused by his terribad clearing attempt. He could have been safe and iced it or thrown it to the corner. 1 Detroit \# 1 Fan reacted to this

TheXym 2,606 Report post Posted November 27, 2014 Doh, my bad. Back on topic, Kindl is decent offensively, but I have a feeling he is holding the stick so tightly it's causing more defensive miscues because he's afraid of screwing up since he's on such a short leash. daniel1 32 Report post Posted November 27, 2014 Why is Kindl not playing after he scored two power play goals? He sucks. He sucked when he was first brought up. He sucked after spending most of his career in the press box. He sucked last year. He sucked again this year. He. Just. Sucks.

I disagree there. He is right around 20 pts a season average. Thats not good when your supposed to be an offensive defensive. When you can put up 40+ pts a season as a dman being weak defensively can be overlooked. 20 pts no way. Plain and simple hes just not a good NHL D-man. Like I said in my previous post for where he was drafted he was a major bust.

Look at Smith's numbers. 19 pts last year. It's hard to argue against Babcock as a coach because he's getting pretty good results so far this year, but it's obvious that the only two defencemen on this team that are consistently "allowed" to be offensive-minded are Kronwall and DeKeyser. If Kindl played for Tampa, for example, I bet he gets 30 points. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

True. But from a Wings perspective I think he's the highest draft pick they've had since Marty Lapointe. I think we all got a little excited he'd develop into a good NHL defenseman.
