But I do remember being excited about the Bertuzzi pick two years ago. I also remember being excited about the Holmstrom pick last year (I was also excited about Kadeykin). I also stated what a great job he does at the draft table... I would never sit down with Holland and call him out for any of his picks, because he and his staff undoubtedly know a hell of a log more than me about any of these kids. Does that mean that fans that know very little about these guys can't debate amongst themselves whether or not they were good or bad picks? I don't like the picks, you do. Not a big deal. We'll find out in a few years whether or not they were good picks or not... I know your not a Holland hater as I read your posts all the time as your carry a lot of insight. That's why I said I'm surprised this post came from you. I never said I agree with his picks this year either but I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows something about those players we don't just like every other year he makes a pick and this place goes bananas. I am surprised we didn't make a single trade though... 1 centers, 2 wingers, 2 defensemen and a goalie... Not what I was expecting at all but not terrible I suppose... But we had 6 picks and we drafted a complete lineup: 1 C, 2 Wings, 2 Dmen, and a G. That is a good balanced draft. I think Svech will be great in a couple of years. Pearson could be our future checking line C. yes we have a bunch of those guys today, but many of them are 30ish and UFA's over the next 2 seasons. The thing I am most excited about is the future top line: Svech-Larkin-Mantha. And I'm guessing the only way to have there rights is to sign them to a contract on the spot like we did with hicketts right There's a few dmen in lucas carlsson,alexander younan and a 6'6 Belarus falkovsky I'd be interested in the wings checking out if it were possible Lucas carlsson would be first ...
