rooter2309 28 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 You can't really compare the two players. But yes, 12M per/3 years for Green is a pipe dream. But it won't be 6.5M at 6 or 7 either. I say Green signs for 5.5 for 6 or 7, or 6M for 3 or 4. I think it will be more like 6 mil for 5 the more I think about it. Would you guys/gals do it at that price? FTR, i wasn't trying to compare a third line center and a defenseman, it was more a comment about the state of free agency.
amato 3,210 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 I wouldn't want to sign green for longer than three years. At six mill I think I'd be a little hesitant. I think I'd go 3 years, 5 mil per at most if I were Kenny.
LeftWinger 4,963 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Wow, that's a helluva raise for Soderberg. I am not sure what Colorado had that prompted him to want to sign there. They are most definitely not close to winning, they don't have the countrymen he could play with, which for Swede's always seems to be an important factor. It probably boiled down to money. Yesterday teams were allowed to talk to players that were pending UFA's and it was reported that Soderberg was getting a lot of attention. I am willing to bet Holland had some sort of offer or him, but nowhere near what the offer from Colorado. He probably inormed Boston of his choice and that is when they traded him for something just so they don't lose him for nothing. Good luck in Av-town Carl, you could have been a National hero in Sweden playing here between Z and Nyquist, but hey, can't blame you or taking the money and running. amato 3,210 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Not saying that gets the deal done but with the amount of re-signing that will have to be done next season, I wouldn't want to go higher than five I don't think.
nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 That's a ridiculous contract soderberg got for a 40pt guy ... Can't understand colorado I want no part of any ufa's at this point 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

LeftWinger 4,963 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) Oh well, still more than I though the would get, we need to save some cap for our more pressing needs. Soderberg @3M would have been more disappointing that we didn't get him, but $4.75M is a lot. Especially with our pending RFA's after this season. I still think he would have had more success here, but hey, I am a bit bias! Edited June 26, 2015 by LeftWinger
Helmethead 235 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Not sure how much cap space we can add since (according to the Khan) Weiss will likely not be bought out.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 The Wings have no cap issues this year. They could easily add 7M. It's next year that they'll have some work to do with Helm and Abdlekader becoming UFAs, while Mrazek will need a new RFA contract as well.
Helmethead 235 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 I just don't see how Weiss fits on this team. Where does he play? Third line with Sheahan and Pulkkinen/Jurco? 4th line with Miller and Glendenning? If Mule comes back it complicates things even more.
amato 3,210 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 If they want to buy out Weiss they might as well wait until next year anyway.. maybe he bounces back but even if he doesn't, the cap hit from the buy out will be less in both term and dollars. We can afford keep him on the books this season and add a contract if we so choose. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

Maybe he plays well enough to generate some trade interest. If he struggles, dump him next June when that 2.5M (or whatever) in cap space becomes more valuable. 2 amato and krsmith17 reacted to this
joesuffP 1,746 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Weiss will make a good 13th forward. Can slide him in if there's an injury to a winger or center. Just keep looking for a trade, then if you have to, buy him out next year. Would love to add ROR and maybe package Smith for a pick if we can land Franson or Green
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Ror wants out and I don't blame him. Avs wanted to low ball him since forever and now he t has a chance to finally get paid and appreciated by his new team. No, The Avs have been wanting to pay ROR like a second line center, which he is, and ROR thinks he's as good as Toews and Stamkos. 5 krsmith17, nyqvististhefuture, DatsyukianDekes and 2 others reacted to this
