Datsyuk Now 7th in All-Time Wings Goals

Toews is going to end up being remembered like Jean Beliveau. Datsyuk is going to end up being remembered like Sid Abel.

No he won't. He'll need to win about 10 Cups and not be a douchebag.

If Chicago wins it again this year, this debate is over.

What if they win next year?

Emdog was a beast.

Comparing individual players, you have to weight individual stats more heavily than team cups. As many others have said, total cups are not the best argument, and the Darren McCarty example is crystal clear. You may as well compare their NHL ratings on the Xbox and average them over their careers or compare their iPod playlists (bonus points for having RHCP's "Under The Bridge" cranked up, especially if it is at a team pool party after a cup win). :)

This game is a perfect example of how he is overrated.

Look at the "Deking" section. Datsyuk is rated at 95 and so is Crosby. Toews is 93.. If they're giving Toews 93 and Crosby 95 for deking (which I'm cool with), Datsyuk should be like a 98. He's has the best hands in the league.. They either underrated him for that OR they overrated Toews and Crosby for deking.

But anyways your point stands is what I'm saying.

Just to show you an example of how EA Sports ranks based on popularity along with skill, in the most recent UFC game CM Punk was ranked higher then many good fighters without ever having a single fight. EA Sports ranked him an "85". There was a ton of backlash online by the hardcore MMA fans (which I find funny) and they changed it so he was ranked dead last.

Case and point, EA Sports ranks based on skill and popularity. Fans (kids especially) want to play as Toews and they want him at a high level.

Ha ha ha ha. Discrediting Toews is a must for you guys. The guy is good. Just give him his due.

He is good, very good. Just not as good as some make him out to be. Like I said earlier, I put him at the level of Bergeron and Kopitar.

Toews and Kane will have nothing on Martin frk

Datsyuk is just a mere blip on his radar too

Probably should compare their wives to be on the safe side too

There are Crosby and Ovechkin.

Then there are Kopitar, Bergeron, Toews.

So you are saying that he's not in the generational talent category?

I would agree with that.

I'm saying he is not as good as people think he is. That video game is a perfect example of my issue with him being ranked #2 in the NHL. There are many forwards/D-men/Goalies much more valuable then him.

Just off the top of my head, guys I would rather have then Toews (assuming healthy), Crosby, Ovie, Kane (if he wasn't a ******), Keith, Weber, Price, Lundqvist, Quick, Kopitar, Malkin.

I never said he wasn't a great player, just not the best of the best. Bergeron is a great example, everyone respects him as a player, but you dont hear people saying he is the face of the NHL, the best player in the league etc. You do hear that about Toews, and IMO they are at the same level.

I question how people can say he is the best in the league, when he is probably the third best player on his own team.

Lets just discuss forwards. Point noted and agreed to on all players.

Crosby is the best player in the game today. We could all agree to that, right? I think we could all also agree to Ovi being #2. Those 2 are premier players. I think where you and I disagree is what happens next. I think Toews slots in at the top of the next tier which includes Datsyuk, Bergeron, Benn, Malkin, Kane, and Kopitar. I think you see him slotting in at the top of tier 3 with the Zetterbergs and Pavelskis of the NHL. This just isn't true, though. He gets paid top dollar and rated highly because he's the next best thing to Sid the Kid.

You are literally contradicting you first point of Crosby being number 1, and Ovie being number 2, with your last point of Crosby being number 1, and Toews being number 2.

Its like you started out trying to make a valid point, then you ended trying to troll me and contradicted yourself in the process.

Whatever, you pretend to think Towes is second best in the NHL, I don't think he is close. No point repeating ourselves.

No, I mean he's tier 2. Crosby and Ovi are tier 1 - interchangeable. You are right. I wasn't clear on that point. Don't get frustrated. I'm just debating with you. Not trying to make you mad.

Keith is an interesting choice guy is due for his first Norris, other than Weber, Suter and Doughty there aren't any defenders I'd take over him. Kopitar has to be one of the most underrated centers, guy does it all (he can crush people, score, assist) such an outstanding player sadly, he will retire as a LA King. Crosby is the obvious choice because he is the best player in the game but Kane, Ovechkin and Malkin? They'll score a lot of points for sure but I don't think they have the same leadership qualities - and yes that's very important - as captain serious. Malkin is unstoppable when he is on but when he is of nobody is going to notice him. It's different with Toews even if he has a bad game he will hardly quit.

Please do show us how one measures leadership qualities. Until then, Datsyuk, Bergeron and Kopitar > Toews.

there is something called intangibles something one can't measure you either have it or you don't. Captain serious does and in terms of leadership there is no one better not even Sid the kid
