IMO, outside of the normal NHL shenanigans that go on at the bench, players hold sticks all the time, even NHL Player Safety said so, but if Calvert would've just left his stick after he could't get it, maybe there would have been a interference call on the bench, but when Calvert speared at Bert, that is when the problem really began. There should have been discipline of some sort for both sides. It wasn't OK, but in this day of the PC NHL, dropping a glove on the bench to punch someone is going to get you suspended. I do agree Calvert should have gotten equal punishment for the spear that started the whole thing though. Bert still got off light, so there's that. But downside is he will be watched for dirty play more closely. Suspensions happen though. He made Pasta look like Adam Erne out there. You tend to produce more turnovers when the puck is on your stick all the time and youre the go to guy.
