When I was in college a friend of mine worked in the Athletics department. It was part of his job to hush hush deliver money to players on the football team. This type of shady stuff is way more common than I think anyone realizes. Steen and Boychuck are doing their teams favors. I'm sure they're taken care of in a variety of ways in exchange.

If I were a team up against the Cap I'd do the exact same thing. It's a shortened season. Why not let Lundqvist or Kucherov or whomever sit out for (basically) half a season to fix some nagging injury rather than lose a bunch of assets?

So we wait a year.    Big whoop.    More than one team will be tight to the cap next year, so save our cap room and play the long game. 

.The top 3 (at this point ) for the 2022 Draft are far more appealing than 2021.    Wright, Lambert and Savoie?    We just need to suck and get lucky for a wee bit longer and cash in on a good cap deal.... patience grasshopper.
