Mazer and Wally sent down

Finnie came in and just casually took Mazurs spot...

MBN looks ready to take his #1 callup spot too.

Poor kid is good, but is getting leap frogged by blue chips...

This should be a high sign to STOP signing JVRs and Appletons imo...

yeah, I'm not sure what more MBN can do to earn a spot.   I'm guessing a Nate, MBN and Mazur top line for GR.  Let them stew.   They could be a great line.    SY can always trade off JVR, Appleton etc to clubs that come out of the gate really slow.

I watched the highlights of Eddie Genborg's goal on thursday, nice deflection (tip in) from his office in front of the net.   Today his team won 2-1, had a goal and assist.   Beautiful play giving him an open net pretty well,  to score.   You don't get those chances unless your line is good and you are in the right spot.   His assist was nice as well.

The kid is 18 playing in the SHL.   He skates really well and is hard to move off the puck, is always moving his feet and plays heavy like MBN.   They could be twins.

Genborg is underrated. When we drafted him he seemed like a safe pick, but he has all the tools and is way ahead of his same aged peers.

Like you say - just like MBN - hes bigger stronger faster, and playing with men. At 18. Lotta hope for him.

Rough average percentage of NHL draft picks from each country, from 1993 to 2023:

1. Canada: 40%

2. USA: 22%

3. Sweden: 12%

4. Russia: 8%

5. Finland: 6%

6. Czech: 5%

7. Slovakia: 4%

8. Other: 3%

The Red Wings picks by country over the same period of time:

1. Canada: 44%

2. Sweden: 25%

3. USA: 17%

4. Russia: 7%

5. Czech: 3%

6. Finland: 2%

7. Other: 1%

8. Slovakia: >1%

Wings draft success rate by country (players with 200+ games played) from 1993 to 2023:

Canada: 2%

Sweden: 17%

USA: 11%

Russia: >0.5%

Finland: 20%

Czech: 37%

Slovak: 100%

Other: 50%

Success rate for Finland, Czech, Slovak, and other is a bit skewed because we draft so few of these players. For example the only Slovaks weve ever drafted are Tatar and Kopecky. Thus 100% success rate.

Our success rate for Canadians and Russians is alarmingly bad based on how much draft capital weve spent there, but in the USA and especially Sweden we are pretty good. It's obvious how heavily we lean on Hakan.
