My wife (Iowa farm girl) considers 'chili'  as a soup...They also have their chili with Fritos, sour cream, and shredded cheese...Gotta say I have a newfound respect for  something that I had been indifferent to for many years...Another favorite is French Onion with the crouton/cheese topping.

EDIT - if anyone answers clam chowder might they be a Bruins sympathizer?

Beans in the chili yes?

For the purpose of this thread we will allow chilis and chowders to be considered soups. Ramens and Phos will not be considered, as they are foreign and strange (but still good).

The thing about French Onion is when you get a good one, it's really good, but I can still only tolerate maybe 5-10 spoonfuls. It just gets real old real quick to me. Other soups I can eat multiple bowls.

Also important to this thread: Which soups would you consider combining into a hybrid soup...? All ideas will be entertained

Maybe a cream based soup ie chicken and mushroom?

The local Costco/s near me have very good chicken noodle and chili...Chicken noodle with the crispy fried onion bits (hearty amount) makes an exceptional meal.

Crispy onion in package.

Youre saying mix chicken noodle with chili? Im thinking more tomato and chicken noodle. You get the bits of the chicken noodle and the creamy of the tomato. But I also feel like these choices are very basic and I'm looking for more elaborate ideas.

I meant combining Cream of Chicken with Cream of Mushroom...Costco makes great in-house Chicken Noodle and Chili (those are to be enjoyed seperately).

Important criteria: we need to limit this to restaurant served soups

I've never seen a restaurant serve cream of mushroom or cream of chicken

Split pea soup(with pork) is a traditional serving on thursdays in swedish lunch restaurants. With pancakes as a side. It’s a terrific meal. Many places gives you an alternative and I like potato leek soup too.

But lemme guess, the pancakes are pickled and then topped with Bearnaise?

I feel like split pea and potato would make a nice hybrid. You should try and report back.

Poblano soup, it would no doubt pair well with Tortilla soup tbh

Never had - but sounds good. Very spicy?

IDK who's hurting you, but if you wanna talk about something other than soup... just do so? You don't have to s*** on everyone else's parade
