After last night if they don't get their poop in a group fast by end of next week could easily be 0 - 5 and things can spiral out of control pretty quick

Pitt - Lost

Nashville - Oct 12 -home

NY - Oct 14 away

NY - Oct 16 - home

Nash - Oct 19 - away

Mickey summed it up last night it's not that they lost.  It's HOW with total d breakdown no structure and that's on the coach who puts this "system" or lack thereof in place.

Who is out there besides Joel Q ?

I thought Edvinsson, Gustafsson, Larkin and Compher were all pretty bad. Edvinsson looked slow and behind the play and I wonder if all that extra muscle he gained has affected his cardio and foot speed. Gustafsson was absolutely brutal and was getting torched in ways that even Shayne Gostisbehere would chuckle about. Larkin and Compher were totally invisible, not something you want out of BOTH your top centers.

The way our defense plays is a huge problem.  It shows me that our coaching is retarded.  There's a simple tool you can use in hockey that every basketball coach in the world uses for defense = stay between your man and the net.  STAY BETWEEN YOUR MAN AND THE NET.

image.png.4a32219ceb419b72da4f2ca4a8fdcc4a.png

This is obviously unacceptable.  This is a HUGE problem.  This is lack of effort.

image.png.ccc8335d9ff9957e6278cb91e482f9b7.png

This is a smaller problem.  This is lack of skill.  Edvinsson got the between the man and net part right, but lost sight of the puck and didn't nullify his guy's stick.  That's a skill problem and not a positional awareness problem.  These types of plays are going to happen.

image.png.43f7600bb9808c2cf23c67285378b3d9.png

One Penguin beating 4 Red Wings to an open net tap in.  This is a coaching problem.  This is 4 players sucking on defense at the same time.  You take a man, and you stay between him and the net until you pass him off.  Everybody passes him off to Maatta who completely ignores him.  Stick bumping defense is a sign of poor coaching.  AT THE MIDGET LEVEL.  We're in the NHL.  This is complete SHET.  Like the coach and GM should be let go TODAY type of shet.  This is just nobody giving a rat's ass.  Unacceptable.

image.png.133e864eaa888637711fdbf11c4c5081.png

Goalie has to stop this.  HAS TO.  This guy should be on LTIR right now, and we should have Philip Broberg instead of Chiarot out there stopping this crap from happening before the goalie can make a gaff, but this one is on the goalie.

image.png.0b8eadb4cf2629b76c41d0d19ccc0536.png

About that between the net and your man thing.  Chiarot, you idiot.  You're seriously going to let one of the 5 best players to ever play hockey camp out in the paint.  Seider, meh.  You were covering 2 guys because Compher was focusing on Letang who was 60 feet away.  This play is 1/2 Pittsburgh having good players and 1/2 Red Wings not choosing the least dangerous poison (Letang slapper from 55 feet).  But the moral of the story is this 4 man PK team has to keep Pittsburgh guys 10 feet away from the goalie and not behind them .  This is crappy defending.

image.png.a548502cf3044807ddd6b7e730eb75f6.pngimage.png.16b97e1fbf64f055fb15a7f13042c7c7.png

Guess this is what 8.25 million buys you.  ZERO DEFENSE.  Again, this is the kind of thing that would drive a freshman high school coach crazy and have the whole team running lines for 2 hours of practice.  Our coach used to call these "No Ball Practices" after this kind of shet happened.  Just conditioning.  This is not how a professional athlete looks.  This is amateur hour bullshet.  And I would blame it on the player if it was ONE isolated incident.  But this is a coaching problem.  This is an entire team not playing NHL hockey the right way.  This is the kind of coaching that makes you want Mike Babcock back.

Kip, you're spot on.  This could very easily be a 5-0 start if this team doesn't have an epiphany.  And frankly, I'm all for it.  I told all of you that we're not in a postition where our GM can miss out on Lindholm, Broberg, and Holloway opportunities and instead choose to go the Chiarot, Petry, Motte path.  We're NOT the 2002 Red Wings that can spend 5 years developing prospects until they're 24 years old.  We're a garbage piece of crap NON-PLAYOFF TEAM that has no identity, no guts, and very limited skill in small doses.  We ABSOLUTELY NEED our first round and 2nd round draft picks developing NHL experience and earning their stripes THIS season.  Not next season.  Not the one after that.  THIS SEASON.  The SCAM and Dycknose Lalonde have complete lost their minds.  This isn't a plan.  This is a debacle.

I said it multiple times this offseason, i was not overly impressed with Edvinsson in his 30 games last year, and IMO he's not a player we need on the roster NOW. He's waiver exempt, and if there's a roster jam, he should be the one to go down. He was behind the play last night and didn't look super effective at moving the puck.

Holl got almost no playing time last year because the expected injuries didn't come, but in the games he did play, I really didn't mind him. And he's a RH shot. And, if SY is all about acruing cap space all of the sudden, he should have a 1way contract like Holl's on the roster, and 2way like Ed's sent down....

I was really hoping Gus was gonna be more well rounded than Ghost... lets see how his play evolves, but we may need to trade for a Dman sooner than later.

Again this team looks to have a trash bottom 4 and an endless carousel of subpar goalies. Even if we make the playoffs this team isnt winning dick besides later picks.

I'm going to reserve judgement on the Eddog until they play him with Seider or Johansson.  Pairing him with a cripple is only something the SCAM and Dycknose would do.  If Edvinsson has to play with TRASH, he's going to be a minus machine the same way Seider is a minus maching with his TRASH partner.

image.png.cd5343fe70b2fbe14b9f8a338aef0e44.png

Seider - Maatta (25 Mins)

Johansson - Edvinsson (23 Mins)

Chiarot-Gustaffson (12 Mins)

We have a CHANCE if the coach plays em like this.  A chance.  Not a good one.  But a chance.

If Dycknose plays Chiarot 18 minutes a night, we're just cooked.  He stinks.

The mish mash 4th line also played like stinky poopee. Needs to be broken up and given an identity.

Here's what I wanna see:

Ras - DBoss - Raymond

DCat - Compher - Kane

Berggren - Copp - Tarasenko

Motte - Veleno - Watson

Fischer

Chiarot - Seider

Maata - Gustafsson

Johansson - Holl

Petry

Lyon

Talbot/Husso

Line 1: Ras has been moved from the PK to net front PP. So just let him play Holmstrom for Larkin and Ray. It's what we drafted him to do afterall, and Larkin and Ray are fast hardworkers and will enjoy the extra space.

Line 2: Dcat and Kane have chemistry. Reunite them on the 2nd line. EZ.

Line 3: Break up the shutdown line and make a third scoring line. Tarasenko can now play his natural side and Berggren can used for scoring - what he's actually good at - instead of wallowing on the 4th with Veleno and Motte.

Line 4: A slightly worse shutdown line, but a 4th line that at least has an identity and some grit with Watson.

Pair 1: Don't touch, our only decent pairing.

Pair 2: Maata is our 3rd best defender. Promote him to 2nd and he can cover for Gustafsson's mistakes while Gus provides offense.

Pair 3: Ajo and Holl played together all camp. See what they can do. Bench Petry and send Edvinsson down.

Goalie: just play Lyon

Edvinsson needs NHL reps and he's going to have bad games at times... but he needs the reps to learn.  The problem is he's being asked to be our 2nd best defenseman with 25ish NHL games under his belt.  Yzerman has made 2 bone headed moves on D.  Most recently playing an asset to unload Walman but before that trading Hronek because he was due a raise...  I'd rather be paying Hronek the 7.25 or whatever, than have that much or more tied up in Chairot, Petry and Holl and as much as I like ASP he's no sure thing...

I'm not even listening or reading anything you post until you stop advocating for Chiarot.  How many games is it going to take for you to admit he sucks the high hard one?  1000?  I mean, it's been 200 now.  Do you need 1000?

Seriously missing Walman right now. Don't look now, but he's been SJS best defender...

Hronek is a bit inflated by Hughes. And we got ASP in that deal. I think he ends up a lot better.

So McGroarty gets sent down by the Pens after reportedly wanting out of Winnipeg unless they guarantee him a spot on their roster.

I'm guessing he or his agent told the Pens he wants more ice time, so they sent him down to get just that....lol
