Defense does look REALLY bad compared to Forwards. He has GOT to make a trade soon, right? I believe he still needs both a LHD and a RHD, and not just depth, actual valuable pieces!

Not gonna hold my breath...'Trust the Yzerplan'.....

Freidman reporting that Detroit made a serious attempt to sign Ehlers, but was told "No" too long without the playoffs...

HEY STEPHEN... regretting not adding at the TDL yet???

Maybe Larks is right. Maybe we don't care what you did for Tampa. Maybe, if you're gonna hope for the playoffs, you ADD FOR THE PLAYOFFS. What a novel concept...

SCAM

Back to be being done with this front office. Yzerman is so high on his own supply after his sucess in Tampa he cant see the forest for the trees. Surrounded by former teammate sycophants who likely suck his dich at every oppurtunity.

Will he learn his lesson from this? Probably not. Again, he's filled the room with "yes men" friends. Now we've lost our big addition bc continued TDL inaction.

And again, i didnt care if he sold for picks, or added for strength.... but this is precisely why you do SOMETHING. He made zero attempt to aid his team, thinking Ehlers would still sign here... wake up call dip s***. Top UFAs dont wanna sign with a team who makes zero effort to supply their playoff run.

Just fire him. Honestly. One TDL of inaction and no direction is inexcusable. SY has two.

f*** off this team regard. I've done everything to try to "see it Yzerman's way" but he's clearly out of his depth when an amatuer azzhole like me was predicting this months ago. SCAM. SACK HIM.

So it's apparent this is our lineup for next season. Thoughts?

Kasper - Larkin - Raymond

Dcat - Compher - Kane

JVR - Copp - Appleton

Soderblom - Ras - Berggren

This is a deep forward lineup. None of the lines really jump out at you as amazing, But each can carry water both defensively and offensively. JVR and Appleton will be critical in shutdown roles, taking PK pressure off the backs of Larkin/Kasper/Ray etc....

The canary in the coal mine is Kasper. We've seen how good he is. If he can take the next step this year our top6 becomes dtamatically better... he is the X factor for us.

Chiarot - Mo

Ed - Ajo

Gus - JBD/Holl

Our D is far less encourging. We have our bright spots, but we also have blackholes. However, if Chiarot can play with chemistry with Mo, and Ajo takes a step forward, suddenly it wouldnt be that bad... here's to hoping....

Gibson/Talbot

This could be a really good tandem. If they perform, our other issues may look frivolous. If Gibson sucks though, we may be screwed. A lot riding on him.

Again we enter a season where if things click it could be great, but if it doesnt will likely be depressing. But we have Mclellan now, so im a bit more optimistic. LGRW.

Honestly, unless Yzerman has a deal going for a 1st line forward, I think his FWD's are set. The D on the other hand, is atrocious. He CANNOT go into the season with this list of names. JBD was a good depth signing, but that is it, DEPTH. I don't think there's much out there UFA to add, but there are a couple of trades. Not even talking about Byram, since the return would be ridiculous. I think Detroit would NOT be on Andersson's list, but even then, he probably would not extend here. But we need upgrades there. At this point maybe a trade for EK65? Pittsburgh is in full dump, tank, and rebuild mode. If we offered to take on 100% of his salary, and he'd waive his NTC to come here, it might not cost too much in return. Our PP would be even better, 5 on 5 scoring would increase dramatically, just have to  pair him up with a D minded guy. To that, I say, add Matt Grzelcyk. Ironically, also, via Pittsburgh, although UFA. Even if ASP made the team out of camp, EK65 would be a great mentor, especially for the young Swedes, plus he's a pretty good leader and Lockeroom guy. Waive Holl, or trade him for Freddie Cooper, yes, the ol Future Considerations. Might even be part of the package that gets EK, Dubas is a fan of Holl. If we could somehow dump enough cap off o sign Grze, and trade for EK65 and Rust, full 100% contracts, I think we'd be a playoff team if the team all stayed healthy. I wonder if Holland would want his boy Rasmussen back? Might fetch a 2nd for him, from Holland for sure!

BTW, NEXT UFA season, we better go HARD after Kyle Conner. That is if he doesn't re-up with his team.

Rust - Larkin - Raymond

ADB - Kasper - Kane

JVR - Copp - Apple

Soda - JTC - Mazur(or whichever kid earns this spot)

Ed-dog - Seider

Grzelcyk - EK65

Chiarot - AJo

Do not want Erik Karlsson. 11.5m for the next two years. No, thanks.

Somebody on HFboards suggested Dylan Samberg who just filed for arbitration. Winnipeg love him and I’m sure they’ll sort out a long term contract though and won’t let him walk directly to UFA.

But thats the kind of player we should go after, imo. Somebody on the rise that yet to have established themselves in the top four.

Drew Helleson in Anaheim is another one, suggested by a poster that seems to know a lot about what the organization are thinking.

I believe the cap is only $10M because San Jose retained some when traded to Pitt. But I understand your point.

Nick Perbix was available and we missed on him. There won't be another Nick Perbix. Just accept it and move on.

I kinda think JBD is our Nick Perbix. Physical, bottom pair, defender with offensive potential at 5on5. We didn’t get THE Nick Perbix, but we got A Nick Perbix.

YOU STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

JBD will NEVER be the dynamo right-handed stand-in that is Nick Perbix. And I will not allow you to attempt to sway the good folks of LGW with these poisonous lies.

Take this with a grain of salt...Listening to Sirius XM Radio NHL Network a regular on the show Anthony Stewart was asked if there's any 'dark horse trade potential, or player movement' that most would overlook, or be unaware of...Stewart commented on 'hearing' Tyler Bertuzzi might be on his way out of Chicago - possibly back to Toronto.

While it's a snowballs chance in hell - I wouldn't mind seeing Bert back in a Wings jersey and playing alongside his pal DBoss.

I do this every year, so im keeping up with tradition, just have less ammo this off season... anyway,

2590824.png

1. John Gibson

Class: Iron Dome

Skills: knocks down incoming missles to protect home base. Maintains a strict diet, and definately does not get hoagies lodged in his throat 3 at a time. Because of this weight control, likely won't need to be replaced in the near future.

*Disclaimer: will likely need to be replaced by 2-3 new goalies as soon as next year

2. Michael Leighton

Class: Drill Instructor

Skills: Being 6'3"... we didnt know they stacked shidt that high. Does not discriminate against Hawks, Preds, Canes, Bolts, or Flyers... he was equally worthless on each of those teams.

600px-Black-sheep-mp5k-2.jpg

3. James Van Reimsdyk

Class: Grizzled Veteran

Skills: has done 11 tours in Philly, Tronna, Boston, Colombus, and the Mekong river delta. Isnt the naive young soldier he once was, but seeing Kane reminds him of losing the cup on Pattys game winning goal in philly, which activates his PTSD sending him into wild frenzies of violent hockey play. In his freetime he enjoys clogging and summering in Rotterdam.

4. Jacob Bernard-Docker

Class: Not Nick Perbix

Skills: Rejected by both Ottawa and Buffalo, but he's on this team because *insert reason here*. Kinda looks like Nick Perbix, but I assure you, that is actually a man named Jacob Bernard Docker.

dammit! Isaac Howard was traded to Edmonton, AND he signed a 3 year deal.... I know Yzerman cannot control where players would rather play, but it is just damned depressing that we lose out on some players due to our lackluster play and lack of playoffs. Sorry, just in a crappy mood, and really waiting for something good to happen to pick me up... have a good night...

Prediction: Yzerman trades for a defenseman before the season starts. The catch? It will be a lefty to play with Seider, forcing Chiarot down the lineup to play with Edvinsson. Because Edvinsson can defend really well, Chiarot will be able to riverboat gamble a bit (as is his inclination) and the pair will be surprisingly effective.

This is definately the first off season where i saw contracts coming in and legit thought: "fuq id rather trade"

No one should be handing Gavrikov a $7x7 or Cody Ceci a $15 mil total contract. But Ken Holland's exist...

Yzerman said as much in his presser. He's opted to save his money. "What for? He doesnt know yet" thats cool with me. Rather swap assets for a reasonable contract than sign tyler motte to a cowboy contract.

Yzerman had another golden opportunity to have added another Cheesehead to the roster in Howard...
