#2523930 Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal

Posted by ogreslayer on 15 June 2014 - 11:15 AM

Ot: Since you are from Europe too I am annoyed by the exact opposite. Fans who don't care about identification and local heroes, same goes for nationalism there is nothing wrong with wanting to be proud of your club by expecting less foreigners and more homegrown boys, especially in soccer where everyone knows there are around 8 clubs worldwide who will get the best of the best.. People who only want to see points, points and success at all costs are the typical gloryhunters and event fans who have helped turning European soccer into what it is today, a business first industry, suit driven industry instead of a sport. In short not even worth watching, following anymore As for VM; I fully expect our scouts - who are one of the best in the business - to also look at Michigan boys but there really is a pattern with the Wings and all I expect is a different mixture of players. I know this worked great when others where behind the curve but nowadays almost every team has scouts worldwide so finding gems is a lot tougher. Maybe the kid will be good maybe not but personally I would have prefered another Dekeyser story just at the center position this time. like you said I think it would be important for Michigan boys to have that special feeling come draft time. I mean every kid dreams of playing for their local club once they are on the cusp of becoming pros.

"local boys" per season...

96-97: Aaron Ward (Windsor)

97-98: Aaron Ward (Windsor)

01-02: None

07-08: Brian Rafalski (Dearborn)

12-13: Justin Abdelkader (Muskegon), Luke Glendening (Grand Rapids), David Legwand (Detroit), Drew Miller (East Lansing), Danny DeKeyser (Detroit)

Good thing those good ol' local boys were around this past season to spur the Wings on to a Cup win, right?  Right?  Personally, I would rather have the front office concern themselves with building the best 23 man roster they can regardless of where the players come from.

Vladdy as always, thanks for heading the effort up.  My rounded up payment in now on the way.  Sorry about the delay.

#2511385 4/18 ECQF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 @ Bruins 0. DET leads series 1-0

Lucic won't be suspended, there was no injury and it's the playoffs.

Didn't look like there was any feeling out period, they just went into full blown don't give an inch playoff hockey.  Very intense game focused on limiting chances against.

Both goalies were fantastic.

Legwand-Glendening-Miller did a fantastic job.  There were a lot of times they took a d-zone faceoff and the next draw was in the Bruins' end.

Kids looked like they've all been here before, between the Calder Cup last year and the tight end of the season this year, there wasn't much adjustment for them.

Plus he wasn't suspended for doing the same thing to Alexei Emelin about a month ago.  The best revenge isn't a suspension anyways, it's continuing to get under his skin, taking him off his game, & taking the series.

#2509547 WCQF - Series F - Blues vs. Blackhawks

Darth Vader vs Voldemort

I guess I have to go with the Blues.

Great, now I'm picturing Hitch in black armor and a cape & a bald Quenneville with no nose.  I work around way too many Hawks fans, so I too am pulling for the Blues in this one.

I will go with:

$5 per series win

$5 per series sweep

$5 per Kronwalling

$10 per Kronwalling if recipient is Brad Marchand

$1 per game played by Hank

$1 per goal from any player from the 2013 Calder Cup winning roster (Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, Jurco, Andersson, Glendening, Lashoff, & DeKeyser. Will add to list for call-ups if any)

#2508562 Maple Leafs Name Shanahan New Club President

Nothing more than a move to get a big hockey name to fill the position to ease fan backlash.

My only concern is him poaching staff from the Wings.

IF he had maybe ended his career in Detroit & actually worked in the front office, there might be cause for concern.  I think the chances of him actually poaching anyone from the Wings is pretty slim.

I can't believe nobody's asked yet...  Did Kenny give him a NTC?

#2504529 Weiss - who would take him next season and does he have a full NTC

Posted by ogreslayer on 02 April 2014 - 10:42 AM

As Richdg said we do have 1 more buyout we can use this summer.  Maybe its Weiss?  Also a lot of the reason Howard is struggling is the defense is terrible.  I think if the wings can get a couple solid d guys in the offseason then we may see a better Howie next season.

And that 1 buy out, their 2nd compliance buy out, cannot be used on Weiss as he was signed after the new CBA went in effect.  Tootoo will get the last compliance buy out imo.  If the Wings move on Weiss, it will have to be a regular buy out i.e. some of his cap hit will remain after.

Bernier did save a goal there.  Tatar would have sent his water bottle to the press box.

Might be good for Tatar that he didn't.  Clarkson would want a word with him then.

And then they dragged him into the quiet room....

More like signed him to 7 years at a cap hit of $5.25m a year.  In addition to tipping pucks off his crotch in front of the goalie, he'll also take over as their #1 ambassador of water bottle etiquette.

There needs to be a GIF of this.

So with Emmerton down to GR that means Callahan-Helm-Bertuzzi. Interesting.

He was skating on a line with Helm & Andersson this morning.  Bert will probably replace Emmerton on the line with Miller & Glendening, but that's just my guess.

#2498773 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

:furious:  Holland..

And Legwand has 1 more goal, 3 more assists, & 2 more Malkin balls since coming over to Detroit.

Good news on Helm. Hopefully he has a new uniform made of kevlar bubble wrap so he can stick around for awhile.

Too bad there was no footage of Oprik taking out Franzen's knee in preseason a few years back.

Yeah, too bad...
