#2283592 Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Posted by ogreslayer on 12 April 2012 - 01:25 PM

So let's see if I get this...

Weber INTENTIONALLY slams Z's face into the boards/glass with the intention of injuring him. There is NO OTHER EXPLAINABLE REASON for doing what he did other than to injure him. BUT, Z was not injured. So therefore, no suspension.

I'm sure Weber was simply trying to show Hank just how clean the staff at Bridgestone Arena keeps the glass from a closer angle.

#2280653 Dan Cleary openly admits to being at 50%

Posted by ogreslayer on 09 April 2012 - 06:04 PM

Come on Babs, you're the same guy that had the balls to pull Hasek for Osgood during a round 1 series. Don't tell me you can't do the same with a 50% Dan Cleary. Well, not pull him for Osgood but when I think about it, maybe even Osgood would be more effective than a 50% Cleary at this point.

#2276396 Detroit has inside track on Parise

Posted by ogreslayer on 01 April 2012 - 01:13 PM

I think it'll happen either way. Here's why: As far as I know the 2012 summer UFA class is the best there's been in years. And I'm betting there won't be another great class like this in the next year or two, which means this summer is the only truly great chance we have to replace Lidstrom without losing anything other than money. Obviously a free agent signing is a better option than a trade, and Holland is going to make that push whether Lidstrom retires or not.

After all, Lidstrom's only going to be around for another year (maybe) and you still need him replaced. Better to do it now, enjoy one super-amazing year, and then already have his replacement locked in when he retires.

From everything I've seen & heard, most people are saying it's a weak FA class once you get past Suter & Parise. That's why I'm thinking the Wings get neither. You'll have a bunch of other teams willing to overpay them & kill their team's salary cap management in the process and that's not something Kenny's been willing to do in the past. Personally, I think Suter ends up back in Nashville after the team has a good playoff run this year & Parise ends up signing for big money somewhere not named Detroit.

As per Bob McKenzie on Twitter:

York/Hunwick tandem? Oh my...

I would pay good money to see an entire game of Homer screening Hunwick.

Well that's what happens when you bring in someone from RuPaul's Drag Race to sing the National Anthems before a game I guess.

#2269502 The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore

Posted by ogreslayer on 13 March 2012 - 09:40 AM

How likely is it that we sign a college kid and call him right up? Just doesn't seem like the Red Wing way.

Pretty likely given they did the same thing w/ Abby the year he signed out of State. Granted that was at the end of the season & he started the next down in GR. I could easily see the same thing with DeKeyser. Get him some playing time with the big club by the end of the season if Western doesn't make it into/far into the NCAAs, keep him around as a Black Ace during the playoffs, & have him start off in GR the next season when Lids desides to come back for another run.

#2262970 next years cap

Posted by ogreslayer on 26 February 2012 - 10:29 AM

If the new CBA includes a reduction/restructuring of the cap, there more than likely would be a buyout process that teams would use to get under it so I don't think next year's cap will serve as a hindrance. Who knows, maybe Kenny would decide to buy out Franzen after trading for someone who will actually play like he gives a s*** for 82 games a season.

#2262968 Ericsson out One Month

Posted by ogreslayer on 26 February 2012 - 10:16 AM

His play of late means he's above Commodore. He played in 8 straight IIRC prior to Quincey arriving.

Or that means they were trying to showcase him for a potential trade.

Are people more in favor of Kindl or Commodore?

I'll take Smith instead

#2257184 Blackhawks' Losing Streak: Nine Games and Counting

Posted by ogreslayer on 15 February 2012 - 01:42 PM

i wonder what our favorite Eddie Olcyzk has to say? i thought Duncan keith is the best damned dman in the league???

Why wonder when you can use this: http://www.edzobingo.com/ and piece together what he would say on your own.

My own attempt is that he would say that "All those young players out there on the Blackhawks need to keep their active sticks on the ice, get the puck in deep & use their speed to the outside to go hard to the net." See, it's easy. :hehe:

#2256253 Lids fantasy replacement.

Can I pick a cyborg version of Nick if all the parts were made by Volvo so he would still be all Swedish?

#2255290 Congratulations Tomas Holmstrom

Congrats Homer. Does anyone have a picture they can post of him sitting on his new toy on the ice at the Joe the boys bought him lol

I haven't found any pictures. Will a video do?

#2254791 2/10 GDT : Ducks 1 at Red Wings 2 (SO)

Posted by ogreslayer on 10 February 2012 - 06:40 PM

With the Winter Classic officially announced, I think he'll play one more season for sure.

I hope they just play a looped video of Homer saying "for sure" in honor of his 1000th tonight.

Got to say that I'm more nervous about tonight's game being the streak-ender than Sunday's with the Flyers. Hope the boys don't overlook the Ducks like they've done with teams like the Habs, Islanders, etc. Prove me wrong Wings!

#2254272 Jeff Carter

Posted by ogreslayer on 09 February 2012 - 01:21 PM

I think this is a very different situation. He ended up marrying her...this wasn't a notch in his belt over a teammate.....the dude fell in love. Shanny did not have a bad reputation or thought of being a prima-Donna. He alos wasnt injury proned and has never been accused of not having a ton of charactor or a huge heart. To suggest the 2 are comparable are kinda ridiculous.

Carter was only rumored to have slept with Hartnell's wife where Shanny did indeed do that & ended up marrying Janney's wife 3 years after the incident. So I guess that means by your line of thinking, once Carter marries the former Lisa Hartnell & confirms that their screwing around is what broke up her marriage, the Wings organization (and by extension you) would be able to welcome him with open arms?

Oh and for Carter being a prima donna & making it known he wants out of Columbus being something that Shanny would never do here's just a little bit of an article from back in October of 1996 about a little transaction between the Wings & Whalers...

Hartford is finally in Brendan Shanahan's rearview mirror.

The Whalers granted Shanahan's wish yesterday when they traded the disgruntled forward along with defenseman Brian Glynn to the Detroit Red Wings for Paul Coffey, Keith Primeau and a first-round draft pick next year.

The 27-year-old Shanahan, a first-round choice of the Devils in the 1987 draft, made noise all summer that he wanted out of Hartford. He was held scoreless last night during Detroit's 2-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Maybe take the Wings Rose-Red colored glasses off & see the situations aren't all that different after all.
