#2595585 Kings' Jarret Stoll arrested for cocaine possession

Posted by The Greek on 18 April 2015 - 12:12 PM

Sleepwalker is not wrong. Chewing on coca leaf is no more stimulating than drinking coffee. Powdered cocaine is obviously stronger than caffeine, but the danger really comes from the adulterants, not the stimulating effects. Pure powdered cocaine is no more dangerous than any of the thousands of legal stimulants available in stores. Either way, even if one is exponentially more dangerous, it's downright silly that we try to control what people put in their bodies. It is the very definition of a victimless crime.

Edit: powdered caffeine has recently been approved for human consumption, and it is way stronger than what you find in coffee, so the comparison is actually pretty apt.

#2471484 Look who's top in GR scoring

Posted by Bannedforlife on 09 January 2014 - 02:03 PM

Not only do I log onto LGW at least once per day and have never heard Callahan referred to as Dirty Harry, but LGW isn't meant to cater exclusively to hardcore forum posters. Nicknames are supposed to make it easier to discuss the team, not to prove how funny and clever you are. Making up nicknames that no one else uses is obnoxious and unnecessary. Watch...

It looks like Yellow Mustard is going to miss some time after catching that elbow last night against the Sabres. Its really bad timing too, because our defense already thin with Big Poppa out with a concussion and Bandit serving his 5 game suspension. I would say this forces us to call up someone from GR, most likely Billy the Kid or The Player Formerly Known As Steve. We might be in trouble on the back end until we get some regulars back, since this leaves the Boogeyman as our #1 defenseman. And you know what that means!!!!

Boogeyman - Hot Topic

Heebie Jeebies - Dances with Wolves

My Little Pony - Agent Orange

#2304844 Off -Season Game Plan:Detroit Red Wings

Players I DON'T WANT to see sign in Detroit: \

Jiri Hudler, Kyle Quincey, Ty Conklin...

#2306838 Red Wings Prepared to Offer Hudler Contract

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 11 June 2012 - 10:58 PM

Doan will likely retire in PHX, Semin is a glorified Hudler that will costs a lot more, Kostitsyn-LOL see Semin.

CBJ won't trade with us, Flyers have a HUGE hardon for Nash.

J,Stall will likely go to Canes'.

Perry? First I heard his name in trade talks.

Iginla, maybe but I wouldn't give up much but my guess is Flames MGMT will price him out of Detroit.

Well s*** lets all just jump off this sinking ship to the penguins. We will not get anything because our club sucks and players even hate the mention of the Detroit Red Wings. We have no chance in signing anyone. Our management sucks, our current players suck. Lids thought we sucked that's why he left. Players do not want to come to Detroit...I mean look at the city for gods sake.......

#2303166 Excellent 'Parise and Suter to Detroit' article

Posted by xtrememachine1 on 25 May 2012 - 11:09 AM

I'd rather go to a team that has a more solid future. Something tangible that I can see in front of me. Not just a promise that we "know what we're doing" because we were able to reload once before. Not good enough for me to sign away 6-7 years of my life.

Answer me this then, who has a solid, tangible future in front of them? Vancouver? The team that's getting rid of their franchise goalie? How about Pittsburgh? No cap space. Chicago? Since winning that one Cup, a team which was loaded with talent thanks to entry level contract for Keith, Toews and Kane, hasn't made it out of the first round. SJ? Choke acts every year. Washington? They couldn't be in more disarray with coaching and player personnel. Boston? Thomas and Chara are both over 35 and those are some big shoes to fill. I know in other post, you mentioned Minnesota and its prospects. Prospects are far from something tangible and certain. They could end up all being colossal busts. I remember back in the mid 90's people talking about how great the Senators are going to be someday with those two centers Daigle and Yashin. They were "can't miss prospects". My point is if you don't trust the franchise that's been doing it better than anyone else over the past 20 years, who can you trust?

EDIT: Seriously, Doc Holliday's post wasn't up yet when I started to write mine. lol

Posted by Dabura on 18 April 2012 - 07:51 PM

How quickly people forget these "pretty boys" won the Cup in 2008 and was only 1 win away from repeating in 2009.

The year is 2012.

The Wings: trailing Nashville 3-1 in the first round.

2008 and 2009: irrelevant.

#2292328 Until the End ...

Posted by Electrophile on 18 April 2012 - 04:42 PM

I think a lot of people here are confusing realism with pessimism/bridge-jumping. No one, aside from the fans of other teams, wants the Red Wings to lose. I don't think we're going to win, but I'm going to watch the game anyway. I'm a fan, that's what I do. However, I also love the team enough to realize we're deeply flawed.

So again, please don't confuse people being realistic with people saying, "f*** this team, I'm rooting for Vancouver."

Enough with this Semin s***. He's Filpula with Franzen's streaks of laziness.

Vote NO on Semin.

I've never seen such an overreaction in my life. 12 hours ago we were gonna "smoke those fools from Nashville" and everyone was calling for a blowout. Now we're too old and too slow and not "gritty" enough to compete?

News flash.....we were too old, not fast enough and not gritty enough in each of the past 3 seasons.....and waiving pixie dust and hoping a Parise falls in our lap isn't the answer.

This team has to start making the tough decisions. Saying goodbye to Homer and Brad Stuart to make way for a Nyquist and Brendan Smith....in a word :Rebuild: and the fallout is gonna be first round playoff exits or perhaps not making the playoffs at all.......that is the reality of it. This team has given us a great run.....tip your hats to them, pat them on the back and say good job and start rebuilding.

#2289841 The Official NHL Suspension Thread

Posted by haroldsnepsts on 17 April 2012 - 02:30 PM

Shaw totally hit him on purpose. This ain't his first day in hockey. He could've easily skated up against the boards and around Smith. Good call Shanny.

He certainly could've done better to avoid contact, but Smith was also shooting the puck, spinning his body and head towards Shaw.

Three games is an absolute joke. Especially after Lucic got nothing. Shanny has seriously become less consistent than Campbell.

Other than that star players are probably not going to get suspended as long as lower line players. That's been pretty consistent.

The 'Hawks Andrew Shaw gets 3 games for his shoulder hitting Mike Smith's mask as he was trying to squeeze past him behind the net. IMO, incidental contact & he wasn't head hunting. That gets 3 games yet trying to put a player's head through the glass after the final horn warrants nothing but a $2500 fine? Oh NHL, the more you change, the more you stay the same.
