In Topic: should mrazek get #1 tag next season

04 May 2015 - 08:18 AM

No. Having 2 good/great goalies is not an issue. Many teams don't have one. I realize that people love his style of play, but he didn't do any better than Howard over the course of the season. Their numbers are nearly equal, which is surprising with Howards poor play after his injury. Howard also had BETTER numbers in the PO's last season that Mrazek did this year. By numbers I am talking GAA and save %. Will Mrazek be a great G down the road? he should be, but there are no sure things. Lets wait until he is before we do anything rash.

Or if some unreal deal comes knocking for Jimmy and we get a true sniper and RH rugged top 4 defenseman then we roll the dice with Sir Mrazek. Granted this is all in our NHL 2015/2016/Dreamworld.

Well if Petr has 3 more performances like last night then Jimmy H might be the Wally Pip of the Red Wings.

In Topic: Erik Cole out for season, playoffs due to spinal cord contusion

09 April 2015 - 03:11 PM

In the bittersweet news of this. Plus I wish Cole a speedy recovery but terms of the trade we keep the conditional pick ...

Snippet from above link...

"need of a top-six forward at the trade deadline, the Wings made a deal for Cole who is in the final year of his contract. Detroit also received a conditional third-round selection in the 2015 draft from the Dallas Stars in exchange for two young prospects – center Mattias Janmark and defenseman Mattias Backman – and a second-round pick in the June draft. The draft pick would have been returned to Dallas if Cole played in at least 50 percent of the Wings first- and second-round playoff games this spring, and Detroit reaches the Eastern Conference finals. But since Cole will not play in the postseason the Wings keep the pick."
