Does anyone know how many times Pierre had to mention how much the wind was a factor? It seemed like he talked about it everytime his mic came on. If you were playing a drinking game about it, you would have passed out by the end of the first. I wish NBC could find somebody other than him to go between the glass. He's horrible.

Definitely noticed. He made it sound like Chicago scored because they were outplaying Detroit when Detroit was facing the wind. Yet when Detroit scored, it was because of the wind. He consistently has inconsistent comments that show his bias against Detroit.

Does it matter? Detroit won the game regardless.

How come when nobody is kissing the rear ends of the Red Wings 24-7 they are always biased against the Red Wings?

I wish somebody would use their big body presence and use their active stick to engage and knock the s*** out of him.

Few years ago he took either a stick or puck to his bald dome... had a pretty good cut. Not hard enough to shut him up unfortunately.

Zing. A discussion about long sticks and double-Dions would have been a real treat as well.

How about his orgasm last night when Colin Wilson got robbed in the USA/Canada game?

Love him or hate him is it really bad to have a guy who is as passionate about the game as him? He does say some crazy s*** sometimes but he knows his stuff and is probably more educated on the teams and players in the NHL than anyone else.!!

What else do you guys expect from the idiot that introduced, then gleefully overused ridiculous terms like "active stick" and "monster".

The thing I hate the most about that tool is his constant sycophantic babbling aimed at whichever team is in the lead. He's infamous for his mercurial opinions about the player of any given player or team in a game. If Detroit's leading in the first period he'll spout that they're dominating the other team and the class of the league. 2 minutes later the other team might score the tieing goal then take the lead and he's saying the Wings are too old and were lucky to score in the first period. I've heard him praise the Wings for an entire pregame show only to do a 180 ten minutes later- saying the opposite about them since they're suddenly down 2-0.

In short- he's a spineless windbag that changes his allegiances according to the score board.

I'll be damned if he doesn't entertain the hell out of me though. I know most people here hate him and I know he's a bit of a ******, but I grew up watching him call the World Juniors so I kind of enjoy his commentary, however biased it may be.

I enjoy his commentary when he's paired with Gord Miller. However, with the U.S. broadcasts, well.. another story entirely.

Pierre McGuire just could not shut up about the wind. He even credited it for a goal. So, if the wind somehow pushed Pavel Datsyuk on his breakaway goal wouldn't it also push the two D that he undressed? Or did this wind somehow only span the foot or so across Pavels back? I know, Datsyuk was able to "draft" off the D man thereby gaining extra speed to make the pass? God what a moron. Thank the lord these numb skulls are only broadcasting a few games for us a year. Of course they are usually the most widely watched and important games...

Well, the wind was a factor.

How come when some broadcaster does suck up to the Red Wings 24-7 or even gives slight criticism that might go against the Red Wings, they are automatically terrible annoucers or have it out against the Red Wings.

Yea, I noticed that too. He kept saying that Dats got a blast of wind just as he split the D.

I can't stand the NBC crew. I guess I spolied listening to Ken and Mickey. They actually talk about what is going on in the game.

I know you're trying to not be an extreme homer which is fine, but I don't think McGuire's comment about the wind fits your description. I'm sure to some extent the wind was a factor all over the ice, but his was still a dumb comment.

And I'm not sure there are any national announcers that suck up to the Wings 24-7.

so what is their excuse when Dats does that any other time... inside?

Pierre's head is hollow. He couldn't hear himself think for the wind howling in one ear and out the other.

Thats obvious - the Red Wings cheat. Whenever Dats is about to get an odd man rush they open the doors at the Joe to give him an extra push from the wind. Its more difficult when they are on the road - they have someone on the "inside" who turns on the air conditioning vents at opposing arenas.

Yeah, McGuire actually said it twice too, he reiterated it later on calling it a "wind aided Datsyuk breakaway goal". I mean come on, I've played pond hockey, you're going to tell me that the wind pushed Datsyuk between those defenders and that's how he got the breakaway?!?!? s***, give me a break. How about you give the Wings come credit and tell it like it is. Datsyuk worked his ass off and used his God given ability and skill to split the two d-men, walked in and scored! Plain and simple. Could the NBC commentators pull out Kane's prick long enough to really make a coherent comment on the actual game? No, didn't think so.

My other favorite comment in this game was from Eddie O. when Lilja had the retarded penalty for giving a guy a push after being BOARDED!!! How in the hell does the clear-cut boarding call get pushed aside for a love tap to the upper body? Oh and then Eddie O. has the audacity to say that "Lilja needs to put some more substance into his positioning next time so that he doesn't get hit that way". Really, don't mention a damn thing about the no call, but have the nerve to say that Lilja is doing his job wrong because he turned into the boards to try and defend the puck behind the net.

We won, and I don't want all this to take away from that, but Jeeesus! Give us some un-biased broadcasting, and explain the game and talk about the actual game more often during a national broadcasting. If I was a new fan to the sport watching my first game, i'd be confused as hell as to why certain penalties aren't being called, and why others are.... At least explain these things and give both sides a fair shake.

I also love how every commerical for the NHL has either the Penguins or Crosby in it... Last time I checked, we won the cup last year right? We beat that very team, that very player pretty bad last May/June. Would it really be all that bad of an idea to maybe market guys like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom... They deserve to be given the limelight for the good of the game.
