I still feel the wings need a Martin Lapointe type of player. Someone who is a full time part of the roster and not in GR during the playoffs. I believe Aaron Asham would be a great addition to the team, with good speed and the grit the team needs but who do they give up for him?

I miss Lilja too.

Any time I think of Homer having to speak, I'm always reminded of the fake quote from him to Zetterberg in '08-09 (KuklasKorner, if I'm not mistaken). Well if your expectations are unrealistic, guess what....you're gonna be disappointed. Based on his price tag, Modano will blow *realistic* expectations out of the water. Grab some popcorn, that third line is gonna entertain all season long!

Stuart and Rafalski played quite well together last year... if anything, I think it makes a lot more sense to go: Lidstrom-Kronwall Stuart-Rafalski Ericsson/Kindl-Lilja OR Hnidy (both can be had for 1mil or less and add EXACTLY what we need from that 6th d-man) Ericsson/Kindl trade/waive Meech done and done. That looks a LOT better and lot more even and complimentary in my mind...

He made 3.5 million last season, I don't know why anyone would think he'll sign for less than 2m. He'd be great, but we can't afford him.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a bit more grit, especially since it can be had rather cheaply. Grit on defense is what I want more than anything else. Even more than having a gritty forward. Oh and it's shameful how so many idiots attacked the OP just from posting his opinion on what he thinks the team wanted. You guys need to get a life if you're mad at his post.

I was in Dallas for his 500th goal - the fans loved him so much there. I am sure there are a lot of sad people in Big D. It's sort of fun reading the newspapers where they are blustering saying they are fine without him. We'll see. No Mo, no Zubov... no heart, no soul. Turco gone? Meh. I think Modano will fit into the Detroit locker room seamlessly, provide leadership to younger players, and will quickly become a fan favorite in Detroit. At least that is my hope for him. I am really only sad that Dallas didn't try to keep him, so he could end his career as a Star -- he is the face of the franchise after 20 years (starting as a North Star til present). But that's not the way the world works anymore, I guess. Good luck, Mo!

Babcock has said that he plans on reducing Lidstrom and Rafalski's minutes. To me, this means a stable 3rd pairing is in the works. This can only mean a reliable veteran will be added to the lin-up to play with Ericsson.

Good to see there are a few kids left who are willing to stand up for themselves instead of crying to mommy.
