Hockey was actually safer when it was more violent in the 80's and nineties. Line clearing brawls may look worse than a blindside hit 2 the head, but there not, ide rather see stuff like that as retribution for a team or individuals action then a dirty blindside, or from behind hits to the head. the problem now is players dont have to pay the price ON THE ICE, if they make a dirty play. Oh a fine and sitting a couple games and a fine will teach them! right? Not really, these guys have deep pockets and its a long season. on the other hand if the guy gets his ass beat everytime he steps on the ice, cuz he is dirty (matt cooke) hes not gunna last long in the league. And im not talking about a north south hits 2 the head, thats the player with the pucks fault should have had his head up. If they dis allow those hits to the head, a guy can just skate around the ice with his head down in order to protect himself from being touched. yes i know it was a bit off topic,

GPS mapping of the cornfield. The design is plotted out, and the combine will follow the coarse that is charted for it to cut. Either that or aliens.

    Buying Preseason tickets

Is it possible to buy preseason tickets yet? Every time I try to look at tickets ticketmaster asks me for a code. My brothers wedding is right between the Leafs and Penguins preseason games and my dad is flying up from Texas for the wedding. He probably won't be able to get up here for a regular season game so I wanted to be able to take him to see the Wings play at the Joe.

    Your Favorite Wings Lines Ever

Fedorov - (in Russian) "Go to hell Shanahan, you freak!" Shanahan - "That means Shanahan is a good and great man! I love you too brother!" Oh, you meant hockey lineups.

    Your Favorite Wings Lines Ever

The infamous "Two Kids and a Goat" line. Pasha and Boyd Devereaux feeding Hullie and just killing the opposition. They may have been a third or fourth-tier line, but damn, they could do some serious damage when they wanted to.

    Your Favorite Wings Lines Ever

For me it will always be the Grind Line. I loved the line when Kocur was on it, and also loved the incarnation with McCarty, Draper, Malts. In more recent times, the Z-Dats-Homer line will always have a soft spot in my heart because of 08. And I really hope the Mursak-Helm-Eaves line becomes something special.

    Patrick Kane's Mouthguardian

The Mouthguardian? Wasn't that one of the really bad team inspired super-heroes the NHL had Stan Lee create last year?

    Patrick Kane's Mouthguardian

I thought Patrick Kane's mouthguard was Eddie Olczyk's di-- ahh, nevermind. The funny part is that if Kane had gone after Franzen, Mule likely would've turtled. Good thing Patty only goes after old cab drivers.

Crosby's 2012 Season now in Question

Crosby never beat this team, Zetterberg made sure of that. It was a good effort by the rest of the Pens plus ridiculous help from the league and on-ice officials that beat them. esteef

I'd get rid of Holland for offering Hudler a $15 million dollar contract and keep both Pavs and Hank.

    HockeyFest

This is the first day of the NHL Prospect Tournament in Travese City so I won't be attending a different Hockeyfest in the form of some actual games. Can't wait for the NHL Prospect Tournament. Hockeyfest looks fun but I'd rather been in TC watching some hockey!!

Datsyuk. He's a little older, but has elevated his game the last few years. Right now he's the best two-way player in the league and carried the team last year whenever he was in the lineup. Zetterberg is not as good as he was several years ago, imo. His accuracy and goal scoring is down, despite him still being one of the league leaders in shots taken.

    Datsyuk or Zetterberg

What is this, Sophie's Choice? If forced to pick one, I would keep Pavs. The back problems Hank deals with do not bode well for the future I'm afraid.

It's been difficult sometimes to watch Z as he's still learning how to change his game a little bit because his body has worn down.

Hahah at the post above. I'd keep Dats as well. Hank's level of play has gone down since we won the Cup last. It's like some games he shows up and some he doesn't. Having said that he has been kinda reconstructing his game I think a bit

    Datsyuk or Zetterberg

This is like someone asking you which of your children is your favorite. Honestly, I'd have to pick Pavs based on his level of play and the fact that he will have a longer career than Zetterberg. It's hard to fault Zetterberg for anything, he's still one of the best players in the league, and probably the best shut-down forward. And he still puts up points, but Datsyuk has wooed us with his dazzling stick-handling.
