Tatar just created more on that shift than Samuelsson and Cleary combined this season. I would scratch him, though.

Who would? A team that isn't very good, doesn't have fighters and keeps putting the same old players on the ice, while holding back young exciting ones.

Are they waiting for 10 straight losses before sitting this goalie? I'm sorry but he has to have, by far, the most blown leads this year as a goalie in the NHL. I don't care how many Jimmy fans are here you simply have to find ways to avoid these consistent collapses. He looks like a teenage roller hockey goalie in a street rink. Way too far out of the net every single goal. Wings aren't playing bad. We need some big saves in clutch situations.

Here's what will happen in OT: The Wings will dominate for 3 minutes. Crazy good chances and pressure. Then, an intercepted pass will bounce out behind the last defender (probably Quincey) and a breakway will ensue. The goal scorer for Washington will be the guy who has never played in the Joe before, probably on his only shift of the overtime. So it is written.

Tatar looks so good out there, even defensively. His hustle, his shot, he causes chaos like Helm does with his speed. And he has a fire in his eyes when he plays. Maybe I'm just looking for it, but Cleary, on the other hand, is losing every board battle, missing passes, making stupid passes, and losing foot races. He just looks TERRIBLE. Babcock said he wanted Tatar to take notes from Cleary essentially. I hope Babcock is taking notes.

Tatar is the only guy on this team that creates anything outside of Dats and Z...and yet he was almost benched today.

Can we make this so that Stone Cold is wearing a Cleary jersey and photoshop Backstrom's head over The Rock's face?

It's worth watching even if you know the outcome....SO FAR. but enjoy the night with your wife bro, things could go south and it'll be worth it to have a better memory for the night in case we fall apart.

If Franzen has finally gotten whatever monkey he had off his back, I'm excited. If he scores again in the next two games I think we can start to feel better about him again. Imagine how cool it would be if Franzen finally found confidence to score consistently?

Now Tatar will be benched for the entire 3rd period for some reason.

Flip was with the Wings for a very long time. He was a disappointment for almost his entire time here. He wasn't injured/coming off an injury the whole time. Weiss has been with us for less than twenty games. He's been coming off an injury and surgery. Carlo Colaiacovo is literally made out of glass. This is a scientific fact. He is the most injury-prone human being ever. Of all time. In history. Forever. Technically the Wings play grab-ass, but we all call it "puck-possession," because euphemisms are fun.

Franzen in beast mode. This team can do some serious damage if they are firing on all cylinders. 2 PP goals on the best penalty killing team in the league

Alfie was a last-minute scratch. Tatar stepped in for him (I think? Or was he gonna be in anyway?). He and Franzen have been incredible. It's like Euro-Twins Lite. The Caps scored first. Weak goal. (Jimmy looks drunk tonight.) But we've mostly dominated. Two PP goals against the best PK in the league.

There's a leading 3-1 penalty. Completely ignore Ovechkin's blatant hold and then call one on Kronwall. Franzen and Tatar have been terrific.

Tatar has put together quite the period. Drew a penalty, screened Holtby on Franzen's first and a beautiful pass on the second. Good for Mule too. We know he can score them in bunches.

If Tatar wants to stay in the lineup, he needs to start falling in the corners like Cleary instead of driving to the net like that. When is this kid gonna learn?

Technically, we've dressed 17 skaters in every game that Cleary has played in.
