Yeah a bench minor...and you're ranting and raving about getting player safety involved. lol But yeah you're right...this missed 2 minute minor penalty will undoubtedly be a huge priority at the GM meetings...lol

Sticks, helmets, and bottles are often are laying on the ice. It used to often be the bottle off the goalie net before they made a case for it. Never seen a water bottle related injury, though I'd love to see that injury report. You can't really think it was dangerous. No one was even close to it.

I think early on in Sid's career a ton of the flack was warranted. He whined too much and deserved much of what he got. Now I don't really get it. He doesn't whine and stays out of most things. Does he retaliate and cross the line every so often? Yeah he does. But he also takes more on-ice abuse than any player I've ever seen. At this point it's all sour grapes and jealousy. The guys a hell of a player with a ton of heart.

I think very highly of Matt Duchene. He is an extremely talented player whos been on a terrible Avs team. If hes traded to Carolina he instantly becomes their 1C. With NYI he instantly becomes one of the best 2Cs in the league. The cynicism is missplaced here dickie.

Bertuzzi came back to the ice after his 10 minute misconduct but sat in the grocery stick position on the bench separating the d and the forwards. I'm guessing they benched him to prevent him from doing anything stupid and possibly getting suspended. Pasquale was unreal when he came in. It was frustrating because everyone knew if they had gotten that kind of goaltending to begin with the game would have been well within reach by the 3rd.

Duchene is a very good 2nd line center, and could play top line for short periods without looking too out of place. I think in the right situation on the right team he could be a 50-60 point player again. I think he would be a great fit on a number of teams, and a lot of teams will be inquiring this summer. I think it will take at least a 1st round pick. In saying that, I wouldn't give up our 9th overall for him, but I would inquire. Sakic probably wouldn't trade with us unless it's an offer he can't refuse, and that I wouldn't be willing to do. The most I'd offer up would be a Sheahan or Ouellet, and / or a prospect like Saarijarvi or Hronek, and or a pick or two (not a 1st).

    Targets for the Wings

The Avs were a tire fire this season. I'm familiar with Duchene's numbers and I'm not denying he's established himself as a 2C. What I'm denying is that there's "no way in hell" a team would trade a top-15 pick in this draft for Duchene. Solid 2Cs don't grow on trees; at any given time, there will be at least a couple teams that are in desperate need of a Matt Duchene. (Promising though Larkin and Athanasiou are, the odds are against either one of them ever becoming a significantly better player than the one Duchene is right now.) The Hurricanes need to make the jump from bubble team to playoff team. They lack scoring depth and they've been looking for an established top-six centerman who could give their offense a shot in the arm. Currently, their top three centermen are Jordan Staal, Victor Rask, Elias Lindholm. While Duchene isn't Crosby, there's a pretty big difference between 1C-Staal / 2C-Rask / 3C-Lindholm / 4C-[some guy] and 1C-Staal / 2C-Duchene / 3C-Rask / 4C-Lindholm. Losing Nielsen hurt the Islanders this season. Adding Duchene would help plug that hole, help solidify their top six, and possibly help convince Tavares to stay in Isles Land. There are other potential fits, but I'm thinking those two make the most sense.

The scariest thing is that you're serious. lol

You can't be serious. Firstly, he didn't throw it on purpose, he threw his arms up and was complaining about something and the bottle slipped out of his hand, at least that's what he said and he made a point of going and apologizing to all 4 officials on the ice and suggesting he didn't do it on purpose. Not that it matters, but I tend to believe that because if he meant to throw it, he wouldn't have done so with his left hand, that make no sense. Secondly, it wasn't right before the 5th goal because he was on the ice and assisted on it. Thirdly, let's assume he did throw it on purpose for a minute...so what, should have been a penalty, which he admitted to whether on purpose or not, but what does player safety have to do with it? You think they should suspend him? I get the bias against him, but that's simply a stupid comment.

    Chelios Released from Duties

Yeah and all of those things have nothing to do with Chelios. Maybe if he trained our D better...?
