Besides the Kings two cups, watching the champion since 2009 has been brutal. Crosby on the Wings home ice, the Blackhawks three times and the d-bag Bruins.
Basically what I'm saying is, I like it a lot more when the Red Wings are doing the winning.

Oh, sorry, GoWings... I quoted part of your post just the coaching part that I had different opinion on. The other parts were just referring to others in the thread.
Chicago is abuzz, and rightfully so, today. But, their lack of humility on the radio and from fans is a bit sickening. They pretty much think its going to end tonight. Talking about how they haven't clinched the cup on home ice since like the 1940's. They think the script is going just as they planned, typical lackadaisical Hawks pitter-pattering early in series and then buckling down in the meaningful games.
Would just love for them to get knocked down a a peg or two (the fans and radio, not the players, they are calm and respectful as usual, damn Captain Serious and doing everything right ).

This just sucks. I want this post-season in the rear view mirror ASAP. I have hated every single series this year, and nothing turned out the way I wanted it to. Good riddance, and f*** off whoever wins.

They didn't "drop the ball" on anything... They refused to trade him, for good reason, and they're not all of a sudden trying to trade him. Mantha isn't going anywhere. He will get another season in Grand Rapids and likely push for a spot in Detroit in 2016-17. My bet is he scores at or close to a point per game next season for the Griffins. People are acting like he's a bust after one season of pro...

Maybe in hindsight, but Cole would have been a difference maker for us in the playoffs. Also, let's not pretend Holland added players in just because there friends, that's just ridiculous.
You value prospects too highly, they really aren't worth anything unless you have a top 10 pick or until they prove themselves. You said Wings were going to regret Jarnkrok yet I just looked at his stats and we aren't missing anything.

Put me in the group of people that would prefer to trade one of Nyquist or Tatar before either Larkin or Mantha.

For an organization rapidly embracing a full youth movement, there doesn't seem to be much logic behind giving up Mantha and/or a first round pick. I personally don't buy it and hope Holland stays the course at this point. If drafting and developing is your thing, then you don't sacrifice that for Dion Phaneuf. Maybe three years ago with a younger Pav and Z, but not anymore.

I still believe Mantha gets this season to see what he can do with a full training camp and being healthy. I can't see Kenny giving up on him already.

If Kenny is giving up Mantha and a 1st can't he do better than Phaneuf? I hope so.

Agreed. I hate the Hawks. But I give them full credit. You don't win 3 Cups in 6 years by being just lucky.

GoWings1905 reacted to Buppy in Retire Sergei Fedorov’s Jersey Immediately
It most definitely was retired. It was worn for a few years by his cousin, to honor him (he had died a few years prior), with the blessing of the family. Never hung from the rafters but neither did any other numbers until Ilitch bought the team. (I think Howe's was the only other one retired at that time, or at least the official ceremonies for most were in the '90s.) Whether you want to call it retired or out of circulation, it amounts to the same thing. Ilitch and the team have honored that part, they just refuse to display it for whatever reason.
And back on topic, no. No to Fedorov. No to Osgood, or Datsyuk, or Zetterberg. Jersey retirement should be something truly special, and none of them are.

I'm really not trying to turn this into an Osgood debate, but it looks like it's already heading that way.
Using the fact that Osgood "took advantage of all-star teams" against him completely ignores the fact that guys like Fuhr, Sawchuk, Plante, and Smith ALL played for dynasty teams as well.
I don't see anybody arguing that Grant Fuhr's banner should be pulled down because he played with Messier and Gretzky.

I feel like Jurco has the skill size and speed, that'd I'd b fine paying him contracts based on production for years to come, even if he doesn't score crazy amounts (but scores enough where his contract is viable) I'd be happy with it. He's the kind of player that could break out tomorrow, or at 26. Either way I want him on my team, he has all the skills.

GoWings1905 reacted to krsmith17 in Report: Cleary wants to return for 1 more season
Yes, Jurco could have and should have been sent down last season. I think he should have started the season in Grand Rapids, even if we were short with the big club and we had to sign a vet. He simply wasn't ready. There's not a doubt in my mind that both Jurco and Pulkkinen would have benefitted from Tomas spending one more season in the minors. Make no mistake though, losing Nestrasil to Carolina last season was no huge loss, by any stretch. He will top out at 30 points, and those players are a dime a dozen.
On Cleary, I honestly don't believe he will be on the 23 man roster in October. If he is offered another contract it will be based on a tryout. I'd love to see him stay with the organization, much like Draper and Maltby have, in some sort of training (strength and conditioning) role. I love Cleary, being a fellow Newfie, and I wish he had more left in the tank, but it's clear that he has given all he can as a player. He's done...

The Wings need a top pairing d-man and some size/goal-scoring ability at wing.

So did Mike Babcock at one time. Every coaching hire is a gamble really. What veteran coach available would have been a sure thing and made more sense than Blashill?

Agreed. Another expendable player, just like Nestrasil was. The whole point is that Cleary on the team isn't going to prevent better players from actually getting into the games. Somebody has to be your 14th forward -- better someone like Cleary than a prospect who could be playing every night in Grand Rapids.

What would be the point? I'm pretty sure it was decided years ago that when Babcock was no longer the coach, Blashill would step in. He knows the system and he's been very successful in the AHL playing our system with our prospects, that he will now be coaching on the Wings. You're not going to find anyone else out there with those kind of credentials.
