I am enjoying the discussion and ideas here... It's not over yet. I am waiting for the end of the Wings' run for the Cup -- ideally, with a Cup! -- until I get too overwhelmed here.
Stranger things have happened, and he might stay to play out his contract. Z will retire, too, and then we have a whole new ball game (puck game, what have you).

Whew! Was worried I wasn't going to be able to post this, but I backed up right into it!

I apologize for not seeing this sooner. I've been out of pocket for the last couple of weeks due to the loss of a family member and just got back tonight -- and I have to say seeing this thread brought a smile to my face. Technically the actual 'birth' of the site is September 15th, 1996 -- right around training camp for the 1996-97 season and at that stage it didn't even have a message board. It was started on GeoCities and consisted of the cheesiest of tiled ice backgrounds, a picture of Steve Yzerman saluting the crowd from the bench after scoring his 500th career goal on Patrick Roy and a bit of text about what I was planning on doing with the site.
I really wish I had some of the stuff from those first years. After a couple seasons on GeoCities the site moved to be one of a few fan sites on PuckPlace.com, then to a server that was hosted by the previous owners of HockeysFuture.com and then eventually to where it is now (and where it has remained for the bulk of those past 20 years.)
I started this place as a bored 17-year old living in the sticks in SE Michigan and it has followed me to college, marriage, a career and two beautiful daughters of 9 and 10 (!). It's been crazy. Life has gotten in the way often and I haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I'd like to the site (and I'm always saying I'm going to get refocused) -- so I really, really appreciate the comments here and the help the moderation team has provided over the years. It's invaluable.

The series goes to 7 games. The first 6 are 1-0. All goals are scored when the puck bounces off someone standing in front of the net pointing a finger at an opposing player and whining about something.
By game 7, they have all learned to stand and cry without pointing. In the intermission before the 7th overtime of a 0-0 game, Steve Yzerman visits the locker room and asks to speak to Filppula. He has brought with him a medium who looks deeply into Flip's dreamy... blue... ey...........
Oh, sorry. But. Those eyes...
She asks him to recall a previous life. She sees the colour red. He blinks. He stares at Yzerman. He sees the Cup Rings on Yzerman's hand. Where has he seen that before?
Then it comes to him! The heart of a Bolt remembers! It is transformed into the heart of a Wing!
And what happened next? Well, in Whoville, they say, that Filppula's balls grew three sizes that day!
He skates onto the ice, wins the face-off, takes the puck himself, skates between the Canadiens players who are crying about an unfair puck drop.
He scores, winning the series for the Lightning. A breathless Cooper asks him, "How did you do it?" Filppula proudly replies, "I'm a Red Wing! I cheated."
Then they go on to get blown away in the next series and we all live happily ever after. The end.

OBSTRUCTION!!!!
