unsaddleddonald reacted to Barrie in Is Joe Louis Arena a tough place to play?
I'm not sure how anyone can watch a game at the Joe and think it's not a tough place to play. Detroit has some of the best fans in sports.

Leaving the game now, after chanting "Lets go red wings" "f**k you Tampa" "f**k u bishop", booing the refs a hundred times (even after second when refs were the first to come on before the players), chanting "Abby Abby Abby" after scrum, booing Tampa players. I'd like to say the JLA is MOST definitely one of the toughest places to play. The fans completely went nuts!

Good quote from babs "The bottom line is you have to help your crowd help you," Babcock said. "If you don't do anything, your crowd isn't going to help you. You have to play well."

unsaddleddonald got a reaction from krsmith17 in Is Hank too slow and ineffective to play center?
In general, I don't think it's a coincidence that he is a minus player this year (-5). It seems like having backchecking duties is a little too much for him right now.
I think he'd be better served on Pav's wing where he can get open and be available for shots because as a center and as a primary facilitator, he's not getting too many quality opportunities. It also may help to move Tatar off of Pav's wing to freshen things up for him and get him going again (even though part of what has hindered him is the post...a lot).
I just want Hank to age the way Selanne, and Jagr, and Pav, and Nick have/did.

Totally agree, this team lives and dies with Pav.
It's an interesting thing to see here as age seems to be catching up much quicker with Hank than Pav. Pav has lost a step, but he's still an absolute difference maker.

What are our chances at McDavid? I think we still have a shot.

unsaddleddonald got a reaction from number9 in Datsyuk or Fedorov?
I think something that really works in Pav's favor regarding the HOF is the idea that most people have regarded him as at least a top-5 player in the league for the better half of a decade now. For 2-3 years, a lot of people considered him the best player in the game.
I think that reputation will give him a big push.

It's not overpayment enough to call it overpayment.
A touch high? Maybe.
Fair market value +/-? Absolutely.
It's criminal that Holland got Sheahan signed for less than 1M. But he just couldn't get away with low-balling Tatar.

Little higher then what I was thinking. But I agree it's a good deal for both sides.

I mean, in a full season Tatar's going to give you 20+ goals. To me 20 goals is worth 2.75 million, every day of the week. 20+ goals and shutdown defense will get you 5 million plus. Ask Kesler or O'Reilly.
Tatar's getting paid what he should.

So 30 goal scorers make less than $3million? I understand the sentiment but your argument is invalid. If he scores 20 goals he is worth the contract. If he scores 30 he is performing way higher than his contract.
