So we will have back to back playoffs with a team overcoming a 3-0 series lead. Wings begin by winning tonight, then Sunday in San Jose they will win an overtime thriller. Back to the Joe for game 6, Johan Franzen's hat trick leads Wings past sharks while tying the series. Game 7 is tied 3-3 in third when Dan Cleary breaks the tie and the Wings hold on and Win the game and the series!!!

Cevari got a reaction from wings1110 in Ruutu suspended for clean hit on Erat
As much as I dislike Ruutu I really can't see how that's even a penalty. Looks like a good hit to me. Frankly I don't know how Erat went down like that, either he got especially unlucky with the way that landed or he was busting out some ballerina moves to draw the penalty.
As for the suspension... Ruutu is a well-known pest / dirty player while Kunitz isn't exactly high on the Pens goon list, so that probably plays a part. It is silly though, the Kunitz elbow was a cowardly attempt to injure and if Gagne had pulled a Shakespeare performance on it it would've been more than one game. I despise this soccer mentality of embellishing everything in order to get an edge that's creeping in lately.

Guess I'll hop in. I'm a poor student though so not gonna put up a lot, but let's say $5 for every series win and $2 for every Wings shutout.
I reckon that $52 will be a small price to pay for watching the wings sweep the playoffs 16-0 with 0 goals against

    I have.
He told me that Bettman makes sure nothing happens to him and that there is a massive conspiracy against the Wings now that he is in the league.
Then he ate a kitten and kicked me in the shins. What a jerk.

Here's hoping for a full recovery. Much sympathy and strength to him and his family.
Just a thought, but would it be possible to gather some kind of collection of messages from the fans to Shawn? I'm sure it could be delivered to him through the Red Wings organisation somehow, and maybe it would in part help him find the strength needed to beat this. Let him know his contributions have not been forgotten.

I've got a good feeling about this one so I'm staying up for the whole thing.
The challenge: to stay awake, having a fair amount of beer in my system already.
The answer: more beer until the game is over!

Not sure if Hudler is getting an assist on that but he'd deserve one. Drove to the net and drew both of tampas D on him, letting Dats cruise in and get the rebound in. Textbook offense overall, looking very good tonight.

Can tell Vs. has fired a bunch of people, they just had a typo on the overlay there. "Matt Cooke a dirty player?", I don't really know how they managed to typo a question mark in place of a period though

Cleary and Dats work their asses off and get a scoring chance. I hope the rest of the team is watching.

Cevari got a reaction from PenaltyShot 96 in THN: Zetterberg should be disciplined for skipping ASG
So let me get this straight. The Red Wings ask the NHL not to invite Z to the ASG. The NHL grants the request, Z is not chosen. This guy wants the NHL to fine Zetterberg because his club dared make a request and the NHL complied. Surely the guilty party here would be the NHL, seeing how they're the only ones why actually made a decision in this chain of events. Maybe next they can start giving out fines to players for bad calls...

Cevari got a reaction from Hockeymom1960 in THN's Ross McLean "Scouting Blog" - Teemu Pulkkinen
Agreed. The thing about players like this is that while they can dominate in the European leagues or the WJC with just their skill and level and hockey instincts, the same will not be true for the NHL. When the opposing team has 4th line grinders with the same skill level (note that I don't mean this in any way demeaningly, Järnkrok and Pulkkinen are just both too young to have reached their full potential) AND they have a ton more physicality it leads to players like this being smothered. They simply can't play their own game because their style is more like that of a top 6 forward than a grinder. This means they can't be given the amount of minutes they need to fully grow into their potential, and can be disastrous for their development. The Wings are traditionally very good at giving their prospects time to reach the level they need to actually succeed in the NHL, not just survive, and I would expect no less in the case of these two.
We'll just have to be patient and think of all the highlight-reel goals these two will give us in years to come.

Haha, oh wow. Wild vs. Ducks.
Koivu loses his stick, literally snags Bobby Ryans stick from his hands. Ryan picks up Koivu's stick and scores with it.
Koivu proceeds to go complain to the refs that Ryan scored with an illegal stick. I used to respect the guy a lot but hell, you don't steal a guys stick and then go whine about him playing with another stick...

Pretty decent first period, chances for a few more than the one we got and Jimmy has been superb as usual.
Also, first post! Hello fellow Wings fans, been lurking here since last spring and finally got around to making an account. I'm a student from Finland and the Wings have been my favourite NHL team pretty much since I started playing and following hockey as a little kid (don't play myself anymore though). Gonna be hanging out in the GDTs whenever I can afford to stay up to the wee hours of the morning.
