Unfortunately he'll be out 2 weeks with a partially separated shoulder. Here's hoping to a quick recovery! Could be a breakout year for him! http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/report-justin-abdelkader-out-two-weeks-with-partially-separated-shoulder -

The following statement is an injury update from Flyers GM Ron Hextall: Terribly unfortunate for him and for the Flyers D. Wishing for a speedy recovery.

Per mlive. Unbelievable. The Olympics knock down our top two players.

Helene St. James @HeleneStJames 11m #RedWings lose D Jonathan Ericsson (fractured ribs) for 3-5 weeks. Bad for Sweden, too, as it puts Ericsson at risk for missing Sochi. Wow! Bummer! Get well Big E!

Datsyuk didn't make the trip to Buffalo because of the elbow to the face that was somehow not a penalty

@AnsarKhanMLive: Babcock said Nyquist has a groin injury. That's usually a week to 10 days Edit: this is ridiculous. Is this a training/conditioning staff problem, or just a s*** luck problem?
-
I know he's produced next to nothing, but this is still bad news. My faith in him has started to erode, honestly. I should probably reserve said erosion for later on in the contract, but he's another guy I've spent a lot of time and energy defending (Howard...*sigh*...being the other). Anyways, this only increases the urgency for Helm to return healthy and ready to pick up where he left off. That's a long shot, however.

"@AnsarKhanMLive: Wings goalie Jimmy Howard has a grade 1 MCL sprain and is out 2-4 weeks, Ken Holland said."
-
Per Bleacher Report, although I'm not sure of their reputation around the hockey world. Must be somewhere between ESPN and decent. That's two natural centers, an elite winger who plays very well at center, and one of our best all-around players, let alone defenseman, on the shelf. All I can say is...with how it's gone lately...crap. Next piece of bad news, please.

"@AnsarKhanMLive: Holland said Ericsson out 2-3 weeks." "@AnsarKhanMLive: Holland didn't specify injury but it is a left shoulder injury." I guess him missing last night wasn't just that his wife was in labor as previously reported.... Bummer

injured Danny DeKeyser suffers broken thumb, out for playoffs

Damn. And he was playing like a vet, too. Looks like White, Lashoff, or Colaiacovo will be playing now. -
Trevor Thompson @iamtrevort3m Mike Babcock just told me Drew Miller broke his hand tonight, done for the season! #RedWings #Heartbreak Of course this happens to a real hustler and not Danny Cleary
-
Babcock said his back was still bothering him. Ericsson will take the pregame skate. If he is good to go Kindl will be scratched. Eaves is in for Helm.

Not really a surprise, but for those feeling like the Wings have had terrible injury problems this year, it's not unfounded. Florida is 2nd, then Ottawa. I figured the Wings would be near the top but not actually in first. Here's the full list. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/globe-on-hockey/red-wings-sens-lead-nhl-in-games-lost-to-injury/article10447942/

Not good.

I saw this posted in a mlive article linked in another thread earlier today. I just saw the updated tweet now. Great news for Patty, I can't even imagine. If anyone is wondering Z left practice earlier but he's 'fine'. He was seen running later on, so presumptively he is okay. Pavel also left early with flu-like symptoms.

Didn't see a main thread.

Twitter's been blowing up reporting that Weiss is done for the year. It was first reported that he wasn't on the ice at practice. Some speculated that a trade was coming. It has now been reported all over the place that Weiss is gone for the season to undergo wrist surgery. Eklund broke it, if you can believe that. For those of you unfamiliar with him, he's another Twitter "rumor-breaker" who never really gets anything right. He just throws random crap at the wall and hopes that it sticks. HockeyInsiderr is another one like Eklund that comes to mind. He was, unfortunately, right about this. So, what does this mean for us? Well, Weiss was really the only option I could see for the top-6 scorer we need this deadline. Pittsburgh and Boston have too much firepower in a trade for Iginla. I don't think the Ducks will deal Perry unless they were absolutely sure he's gone. Although, I had heard some scant Twitter rumors linking us to Perry. Not to be taken seriously, probably. Rumors are going around that R.J. Umberger could be had for draft picks. Not sure if I want to sacrifice picks in this draft for him, though. Plus, he's a former Buckeye. Eww.

Does anyone know what is going on with Dan Cleary's left eye? Not sure if this has been talked about before or not... but I was just watching the pregame show and noticed it more than usual. It looks bad, but then again, I'm no doctor. I'll see if I can find a good (or bad, depending on your point-of-view) picture of it.

@freepwings: Red Wings' Brendan Smith out 3-4 weeks with sprained right shoulder http://t.co/JSJuvu3Q Didn't see it posted anywhere yet.... Bummer :/
