Chelios has been problem all year. He takes way too many penalties and he scoring is way down. He should retire, we don't need him! And I for one would love to see him go! Let him eat chili or something, just don't come to the Joe anymore!

IMO, Chelios, even with the penalties, played a pretty solid game. He is great on the penalty kill. If I am not mistaken, I think he was even the second star of the game.

Babcock even said on DSR in his post game press conference that Manny cannot be faulted for the loss.

Manny is, and will continue to be the #1 guy...Babcock proved today by playing manny in 2 games in 2 nights that he has zero confidence is Osgood, and he is well justified.

If we want to get into Osgood's "stellar" December, we will.

His GAA during his reign was a 2.7. I dont know about the rest of you, but I'm am in awe.

If that is what the Osgood fans are bragging about, that is really sad.

I have one word for them "October"

Manny's last two months of stats are negligibly better than Osgood's over the last couple months. Both are in the 2.5-2.6 GAA .900 save% range in that span.

A hot October does us a s**t bit of good in January, February, March, April, and hopefully May and June.

Let's just stop blaming Legace for the loss and look at the pathetic effort given by our offense and the stupid penalties taken by our defensemen. Schneider had three and Chelios had two. Thats way too many penalties for two of our top four defensemen.

You guys need to calm the hell down. This game was NOT Manny's fault. Not at all. He can't even be blamed for a second. The Wings had 39 shots on Vokoun..and he was stopping everything. Legace played very well, and not many goalies are going to stop that backander by Kariya.

I'm no Ozzie fan. I wasn't sorry to see him go and I was less than enthused when he returned. But I don't hate him either. He and Manny are each capable of playing outstanding games and streaks of games.

If you bothered to read any of my previous posts you would notice I said only a couple pages ago that I am pretty much neutral on this whole goalie thing. I just want whoever is going to play well in the net. Manny is not playing well right now, IMO. Note I said I would love to see him go on another tear. I just don't think he's showing any sign of being ready to go on a hot streak as his confidence seems way down. I think that probably has to do with his knee.

Be careful H4L. Talking hockey on an opposing team board is great as you get both sides of the debate and less homer talk about the team you support.

That said, it sucks to read "trollish" posts no matter what team that post seems to support.

Rivalries are fun, but always have respect for your opponent- the team itself and its fans.

Sorry, but that's three breakaways in two games, and Manny's batting .000! How do you think we would fare with three straight breakins on Vocoun? I know where my money would be.

And if the Wings are so great, why are we not getting all of these breakaways? It wouldn't matter though, because if we did get a break-in, there's a 90% chance it would be Draper, who would softly shoot it into the goalies gut, or perhaps Lang, who would lose the puck trying to make a move.

Face, it these guys are overpaid pretenders. Someone earlier mentioned how boring it would be to see these teams going 7 games in the playoffs. Don't worry, Vo-coon would beat them in four, turning away 158 of 160 shots.

Here's the problem, in my own opinion.

On offense:

We lack a true scorer to line up next to Datsyuk. Shanahan no longer has the energy to fill that role. A good goalie is going to shut Datsyuk and Zetterberg down 9 out of 10 times because they just don't have the shot.

Zetterberg can't play with Datsyuk anymore. Too many cute passes and trying to deke out 5 guys, it just doesn't work, especially vs teams like Nashville that will suffocate you on defense. Hank needs some hardworking wingers on either side of him to force him to play his energy game - not Datsyuk's game.

Lang needs to go. The guy does nothing in even strength play and we've got so many powerplay "specialists" on this team, it makes no sense to devote almost 4 million to yet another one.

On defense:

Kronwall's just gotta get back into the game. Woolley has had a string of really bad games and I'm sure everyone is just about sick of him. I'm definitely wrong about not needing a physical defenseman. We really need a guy who can make sure the shots from the point get into our goalie untouched, deflections have killed us all season long.

Goaltending:

Ditch one of the stiffs and find a guy who can compete with the other great goaltenders in the league. If our 4th line sucks because of it, do it anyway.

I disagree. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are just fine. They just had two bad games along with the rest of the team.

The whole team doesnt need to be overhauled. The forwards have the talent and the ability to score, they just havent followed through yet. Our defense is the same. We had a decent PK but our defense is still too soft and weak. Kronwall will be a big boost.

However, there is no cure for the goaltending.

Sorry but I really disagree on Hank and Dats, particularly Datsyuk. They really can't get it done on even strength and help needs to be brought in to change that fact. I think they're both talented players but they're not on par with the stars of the league (though I think Hank could be better if he played center and got some wingers).

Zetterberg - 49 points in 46 games (26 ES points)

Datsyuk - 58 points in 48 games (26 ES points)

Jagr - 71 points in 49 games (43 ES points)

Alfredsson - 67 points in 43 games (35 ES points)

Thornton - 66 points in 44 games (39 ES points)

Staal - 64 points in 48 games (37 ES points)

It goes on and on. Our team just doesn't seem to put it together 5v5 and when we struggle on the powerplay, it really shows.

Firstly, he's not the #1 goaltender. The Wings don't have a #1 goaltender.

I do understand. I usually stay out of the goalie stuff completely and I made about two comments so far and I've apparently already been labeled an Ozzie-supporter by Manny>Ozzie. Some people are obviously unable to see any shades of grey/middle groud/whatever you want to call it. I think I'll get out now before I stoop to a level I'll later regret in dealing with the previously mentioned people.
