Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Im also one of the people who believe the Tigers will win it all if they win this series! I cant believe this...1 game away from beating the f'n Yankees! While watching this game i couldnt help thinking back to all those losing seasons i watched, and wondering what it would be like to actually see them become something again. It brought a tear to my eye! (well not really, but you get the point!) One conclusion i drew from this game...i can definitely now picture Kenny Rogers choking somebody lol (not saying that incident really happened) The guy looked like a madman out there! I thought he allegedly grabbed him by the collar? Not that I disagree about being able to see him choking someone, just saying that he's not een supposed to have been choking the guy. Come on, he's not Latrell Sprewell.

Yeah thats right, originally i remember hearing that he allegedly choked him...and then it was changed to just by the collar.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 What an unbelievable game. Kenny was absolutely amazing. Gonna have to come back from the OSU-BG game today to catch the end of Game 4.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Rogers was just lights out last night. He was great to watch on the mound, you could tell how badly he wanted to win that game. And hearing Ernie call a couple innings, that sure took me back to being a kid
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Watching Rogers, you could really tell something was up with him. He was pitching very differently. He cranked his fastball up to 93, even 94 on occasion, when he's been quoted as saying he avoids going any higher than 89 or so, because he feels like he's gonna get knocked around because he loses the motion on it. He took a little extra time between certain pitches to cool off and focus in, especially after he'd just thrown a particularly good one. He'd do things like give a little fist pump and then pull it back like he didn't want to show up the Yankees. And he showed off the cojones that only a veteran pitcher has by refusing to come out of the game and then blowing Abreu away. That's one game I'm gonna remember for a long time. The numbers aren't extraordinary but it was one of those you had to see.

timothy1997 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Flipping between Michigan and the Tigers is keeping me busy. Pretty good outcomes for both so far :D I think its a first for me this year. I have given up on the msu-um game. I am just sick of John L and cant wait for this season to be over for the spartans to fire him.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 ALCS HERE WE COME!!! Bring on the A's!!! God I love beating the Yankees. Everyone talked about the Yankees lineup, but here's what it comes down to: Tigers = Pitching Yankees = Not So Much With The Pitching And look at this team come out of the locker room to celebrate out in the stands. Champagne showers for the fans! And the police I LOVE THIS TEAM.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 I watched the game yesterday, the first game of Baseball I've ever seen. Kenny Rogers was extremely impressive, but one question, why couldn't he pitch again today?
wingnut129 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Congrats Tigers on a great series!! Let's hope they keep this up! I'm really not use to rooting for 2 teams in October... this is wearing me out! LOL
MSUDoubleJ19 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 ^ Starting pitchers are in a rotation. The only pitchers that would play two games in a row would be the closers. And all I have to say about tonight's game is: Bingo Bango BONDO!!!!!!!
Matt 1,049 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 [attachmentid=265] That was the greatest celebration afterward that I have ever seen! Fans getting sprayed with champagne? A Trooper getting it? AWESOME!
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 It was one hell of a celebration for sure. Did you guys see when Leyland kissed his daughters, and then a Tigers fan went up to Jim for a kiss and he gave him one too. AHAHA that is great stuff right there. I could not stop laughing. Bliz 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 And hearing Ernie call a couple innings, that sure took me back to being a kid Right on. Very classy to let him back in the booth for a bit. Funny, this really is the best Tigers baseball I've seen in my life. Great stuff.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 I'm really not use to rooting for 2 teams in October... this is wearing me out! LOL I know what you mean. My two favorite sports are Hockey and Baseball, and I'm usually dying for the NHL season to start. This year is really weird, I know the Wings have started, but they are an after thought right now with good reason.... Go Tigers! I've been thinking the last couple days, this is a real special time to be a Detroit Sports Fan. I was born in 1976 and I've seen 7 Championships, a ton of 1st place finishes, and many playoff series victories. And with the Red Wings, Tigers, and Pistons Organization all run first class and are amoung the top teams in their sports, I know I'll see many more moments. It's a lot of fun cheering for Detroit. I just got home from work and the Tigers game was the only thing to get me thru the day. WAY TO GO TIGERS!!! Since this isn't first and foremost a baseball site (or football), I go to live chat for Tigers/UM football etc. Rockin' today let me tell you! I like to come in here after the game to post comments though. Who would have thought the Tigers would have won this series last Tuesday after that dismal game 1 loss? I love how all 17 sports righters picked the Yanks - as per Detroit sports radio. Good for Leyland after blowing the division title - who cares about that now huh? I'm very happy for the Tigers- at this point, they've outdone the Red Wings, and equalled the Pistons (ALCS) as far as playoff success. In the words of Forrest Gump: life is like a bunch of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.................
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 BBTN reported that Georgie Porgie plans on firing Joe Torre. Good. I've always liked Torre and hated that he's been a Yankee. There are plenty of job openings already, but it's not hard to imagine another team firing their manager specifically so they can hire Torre. Of course, the BBTN crew did a lot of patting each other on the back for predictions they got right. No mention of the fact that they unanimously picked the Yankees to win tonight. But....they also unanimously picked the Tigers in the ALCS
