I love Lang, and I think he is one hell of a hockey player.

So really..some people need to shut it already. These threads are becoming just as bad as the goalie flame wars.

You guys do know how these threads start right? Fairly new posters come in and start them not aware of the fact that these kinds of threads start all the time. Posts go on and on and then us older, more aware posters ***** and babble about how these same threads always happen. Put yourself in their shoes, your a newbie coming in, you look and wonder why the hell isn't there a Lang bashing thread?

You would never see someone like NN, eva, ARice, Heaton, NFM25, SWF, myself, etc, etc. starting threads like these. Let these newbies start their threads so they can see what everybody else thinks.

Lang's production is the result of a team with three playmaking centermen and no scoring wingers. Centermen by their nature "float", their job is to cover the slot in the defensive zone and roam the offensive slot, looking to get open or ragging the puck until a winger gets open. This is hockey 101, people.

Wingers by definition do the bulk of the grunt work and skate the most, forechecking in the corners, going to the net and backchecking the opposing wingers. Hank and Datsyuk play a hybrid style of center, like Fedorov, where they take the puck to the net strong and generate more scoring on their own. Lang plays much like Adam Oates did, another "lazy" center who made a living floating in the offensive zone with the puck until Brett go open for the one-timer.

Look at Gretzky, he was a lazy floating centerman who generally parked his ass behind the net and waited for a winger or d-man to get open. While he was obviously a prolific goal scorer, he generally played a traditional centerman's role. Lang simply plays a similar style without the ability to score at will.

I'm with ya 100% on cutting newbies on here slack as you've laid out, but you can't tell me that the creation of this thread was just a brand new idea overnight.

There was a past thread last season with this exact same title, and this theme has unfortunately become an annoying mainstay on here. I highly doubt this was a newbie creating this thread and that this thread was the hot new thing to do today.

There is absolutely no problem with Lang, he puts up respectable numbers considering his ice time and linemates,he's not the featured go-to-guy like he was in Washington, plus he produces in the PO's , something this team sorely needs. Like the other poster said, ***** about Lang putting up decent numbers in the reg. season and producing in the PO's but ***** about Datsyuk putting up great numbers in the reg. season and not in the PO's, you just can't have it both ways. Some just need to ***** about something. It's only been 3 games. Lets' all step back from the ledge.

Get used to it..it's the norm around here.. every player we have here gets slammed except a few..there are some people around here who think that every big name free agent that comes on the market should be playing in Detroit.

So you're going to tell me I'm being negative on an overly discussed negative topic that comes up for pretty much no reason, just because someone doesn't like a player in particular? Haha. I come on this site to check out information, and when I find stuff like this, I speak my mind on it. Afterall, what I did say on this subject was a comment from my point of view that these threads come up at times because some fans are so used to us being able to just go out and sign the Brett Hulls and so on. So then when a bigger named player doesn't play up to par in 3 games thus far this season, he gets trashed, it just doesn't make sense. So of course I'm going to mention something about it, it's my right as a Wings fan.

Hey at least I don't go bashing my team as every little opportunity presents itself. Do I get upset about certain things that the Wings do at times? Yes, but I don't overreact and start a flame war on a message board for my own personal reasons. You may think my posts are negative and yada yada yada, but I would wager that I am on the side of the "Positive" Wings fans out there, I have faith in this team to succeed, and nothing can change that.

So if you could, please forgive me for commenting on some threads or posts that I don't exactly agree with. Which so far in this thread a lot of posters don't agree with the topic starters POV.

so no one likes lang because he doesn't put up huge numbers in the regular season, but shows up in the playoffs. and people ***** because datsyuk has great regular seasons but doesn't produce in the playoffs. some people are impossible to please.

I was hoping this thread was still active today.

Lang is lazy (scored two 3rd period goals last night, incl the winner) and he sucks (plays his best hockey when the stakes are the highest). Wow I wish everyone was lazy and sucked.
