Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 Anybody else stay up and watch that classic last night? It was well worth staying up until 3:30 am for that walkoff. Back to 1.5G back of Cleveland.
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted August 25, 2007 Anybody else stay up and watch that classic last night? It was well worth staying up until 3:30 am for that walkoff. Back to 1.5G back of Cleveland. Damn right! I watched that game till the end. And what a treat the fans at Comerica got for staying that long. A 3-run shot! And now only 1.5 games back. It's only a matter of time before we take that division lead back. Gotta love it.
Airborn 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 Another Bonderman collapse, 7-2 Yankees. Can we just hire a full time shrink already! I suppose it would've been too much to hope for to see the guys come out and play consecutive good ballgames. Maybe someday it will happen.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 This crap with Bonderman is just unreal. I can not remember the last time he got out of a 1st inning without giving up at least 1 run. Going into this start, Bonderman's ERA post all star break was something like 7.5. Umm...not good! Lets see what Jurrjens can do against these boys...he's put in another position where we really need him to come through! Casey, youre my boy and all, but for crying out loud enough with the f'n ground balls to 2nd base!!!!!!!!!!!
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 Good start so far...3-0! Ok, im officially starting the trade for Mike Piazza wagon. Im aware he's old and not the same player, but he's only signed for this year, has already cleared waivers and probably wont cost much, and seems like an ideal replacement for Sheffield in the lineup. Bat him in front of Magglio at 3rd (or even 5th and bump up Guillen to 3rd) and i think he could be pretty productive. We dont know whats going on with that shoulder of Sheffield, so i think we need to pick up a bat. Whenever Sheffield comes back, he's going to need days off anyway...and plus you can fit Piazza in at first occasionally. They can make it work.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 What happened with Jurrjens? Looked like it was a shoulder problem.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 Theyre calling it a rear delt strain. No Rod, posterier does not mean the outside of your shoulder

Of the guys that have cleared waivers, I think Piazza makes the most sense. Actually Barry Bonds would probably be the closest thing to Sheff, but I don't think SF would trade him for anything less than a kings ranson. Then you have to add the fact that you're dealing with the Barry circus that follows him.
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted August 26, 2007 Zoom Zoom once again looked AWESOME. I got a little scared when Todd Jones came out in the 9th. But Jonesy actually got the job done. And JJ looked great before the injury(which hopefully isnt serious). All and all, a great effort by the Tigers. Im REALLY looking foward to tomorrow's game. I have a feeling Verlander is gonna tear em up. Im so pumped for this divisional race.

Ive never cared for Sheffield but have learned to live with him on the team, but if we had Bonds too i'd be sick! Im keeping my fingers crossed but i have a feeling we might have Piazza sometime this week! Sheffield being placed on the DL today should hopefully spark a move real soon. rwfan007 18 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) I was at the game yesterday and it was great. I was mad that JJ left so quick, but seeing Granderson's inside the park homer and seeing Thames and Guillen cream homers, and seeing Zumaya get fired up again was really neat to watch. oh yeah, its 10-0 good guys over the yankees right now sorry, 14-0 now well, I mean 15-0 now uhm, I meant 16-0  :carrot: Edited August 28, 2007 by rwfan007

Hey, I thought you rooted for Bertuzzi Normally, I wouldn't want Bonds either, but all I care about now is winning. If it took Bonds to do that, I'd happily support him. I've loved Sheff, even with all the crazy comments. Before his injury, he was as good as it gets and completely changed the complection of our lineup. With a healthy Sheff, we had the best lineup in baseball 1-5. 16-0 Tigers. Boy it's nice to have a game like this. Edited August 28, 2007 by Airborn
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted August 28, 2007 Our pitching is totally coming on(just as I predicted). Our hitting is just consistantly superb. Our bullpen has actually been reliable lately. And with a series coming up tomorrow against the royals. We just might be leading the division by the end of the KC series. Cleveland won today as well. But I dont expect the Twins to lay down and let the Indians run over them. I cant wait to see how the standings look in about 4-5 days.

Comrade Zorro 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 That was the best Tigers game that I have ever been to. The Tigers dominated the entire thing and made it look easy.
MSUDoubleJ19 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 First of all, last night's game was awesome. Second of all, I was hiking all last week and was without access to elecricity or knowledge of Tigers scores for 8 days. I did however, keep them in my thoughts, and carved this in a shelter on Isle Royale:

Boy it's nice to have a game like this. Haha, yep i supported Bertuzzi, ive never had any hatred towards him because im a violence loving hockey fan! So that Moore incident didnt leave me feeling ill will towards him really. Not saying it was right, but s*** happens! Bonds I despise because of the steroid thing tainting the records, and above all else I cant stand his arrogant attitude. I just dont want him anywhere near this team, plus i could see him costing us a ton and then getting injured anyway. No thanks! I'll take one of the lesser options. Its not so much the way Sheff mouth's off thats always made me dislike him, i actually enjoy guys who speak their mind and say whatever. But Sheff always seems to be whining about race in some way, and plus theres that little steroid cloud over him as well. Like i said though my feeling have naturally softened somewhat on him this year, but at the same time theres a big part of that hopes he retires. I was never in favor of that 2 yr extension for all that money..
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 Finally - a series win - and vs. the Yankees nonetheless. And to cap it off - a smokin' from the mound and the bats of the Bronx not-so-bombers. If anything, this season has had some very fun moments. Pennant race will be fun - don't know if they can do it. I guess we'll see if this last game gives them a lift. I think starting pitching is the biggest ?. Bonderman is totally lost. Rogers is probably lost for the season (I haven't heard otherwise). BP is coming around now with Zoom and Rodney. It would be fun to bust out the division win and see what they can do in the post-season. Here's hoping for the best - :beerbuddy:
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted August 28, 2007 We have to take advantage of this series against the ailing royals. Hopefully we can get a sweep. Cause I expect the Twins to give the Indians quite a battle. This could be the perfect opportunity to close this gap for good. Lets do it boys!
Guest jaytan Report post Posted August 28, 2007 I was getting really worried, but that 16-0 WHIPPIN' on the Yanks gave me some hope! Now we're playing the Royals and Cleveland has to deal with Minnesota.... Definitely a chance to make up some room.
Airborn 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) I think Leyland must be on crack; he's got Perez batting 3rd tonight. Bannister has the 6th best E.R.A in the league, and we have a minor leaguer in our 3-hole. Are we trying to win with a degree of difficulty or something? Edit: Perez left 6 men on base tonight. Not good managing by Leyland. Edited August 29, 2007 by Airborn
