2007 Baseball Season

Just as I hoped the Tigers were turning things around, they lose. Division tied...a couple of huge series coming up.

Make or break time for sure. 13 straight games against the Indians and Yankees.

Honestly, the Tigers better win the Central Division because the loser of the East is going to get the wild card. Thankfully, the Indians have been just as bad lately as the Tigers.

By the way, Zoom threw in Toledo last night and hit 94 on the gun. The report is he should be back to pitch for the Tigers at the start of the next homestand.

Tonight's game is about as important as it gets. If we don't win tonight, we have Jurrjens going against Carmona in game two. I don't like those odds, and that would put us two games behind going into a series with the hottest team on the planet. God our starting pitching is mess right now!

Speaking of that, have you ever experienced anyone as tantalizingly frustrating as Jeremy Bonderman. Every time you think he's ready to become an ace, he'll have a stretch like the one he's in now, where he not only sucks, he sucks to the point that you wish anybody other than him was pitching.

Well anyone other than Jason Grilli :D

It's officially time for the malaise to end. Rodney struck out the side, Zumaya's coming back very soon, Kenny says he feels good. Porcello's signed, that's some more good vibes for the organization. One game up on Cleveland with the chance to put them in a hole they're not coming out of. Polanco just set a major league record for most consecutive errorless games by a second baseman. We're coming out of this! LET'S GO TIGERS!

Despite the loss last night, I was really impressed with Jurrjens. He had a good fastball (92-95 with some good late movement), but what impressed me most was his control. If he can keep that up and develop his offspeed stuff, he's going to be a really good pitcher in the big leagues. I was way more impressed with him than either Tata or Vasquez.

I agree with Leyland in that he could be a good bullpen addition for this year. I think he should start next year in the AAA to work on his offspeed stuff though. He'll be a better pitcher later if he does.

Verlander's only through 3 innings and he's already thrown 76 piches.

I think there's something wrong with him; his fastball seems to be topping out at 92 or 93 mph. A lot of times he's in the low 90s. This from a guy who usually throws 96-98. I think if we weren't already so messed up with our starting pitching, Leyland would sit him for a couple weeks.

Maggs is just unreal. Seriously. The dude is hitting .383 on the SEASON. That is unfrickinreal. What a total bad ass baseball player that guy is. Im so glad he's in the old english D.

He is AMAZING.

Tigers winning 6-3 in the 4th against the Yankees.

Started off with a Grand Slam in the first by Granderson to make it 4-0.

I cant say what his velocity has been the past couple starts, but as for tonight i think the drop can be attributed to the flu he's been battling.

He's battling the flu. He was feeling really bad earlier today, but had to tough it out because he knew how important tonights game is.

You know, seeing Ron Villone in the Yankees bullpen got me thinking. If you're in favor of seeing him enter the game, does that mean you're "pro-villone"? Why yes it does!

See, they shoudlve just listened to me months ago and called up Maybin and dumped Monroe! :D Peace out C-Mo! Im really looking forward to seeing Maybin, he's the real deal. He'll certainly get his share of strikeouts as he's had alot in the minors, like Granderson, so dont get too alarmed by them. I bet he ends up hitting around .300 for the rest of the season. The main thing this does is takes some of the pressure off the team for now, as now so much focus will be put on what Maybin can do. This is the kinda thing that can jumpstart the team to go on a run...great decision. You go with the best talent regardless of age, its what worked last season.

He definitely looked a little shaky tonight. Even while he was in left field. But hopefully that was just a little first game jitters. Personally, I would rather see Monroe out there for now. We should call Maybin back up once he developes a little more, or until he gets those stylin braces off, whichever happens first. lol
