TKACHUK or GUERIN ?

It would be great!!!! But why St-Louis would help us???

I can see Gary Roberts coming here... but not sure about Guerin & Tkachuk... Why Holland didn't pick him last summer???

They're UFAs and would almost certainly be playoff rentals, so St. Louis relieves themselves of the remainder of their salary for the season, could possibly get picks or prospects in return, and still have a shot at re-signing them for next year.

What we can give them for Guerin or Tkachuk???

NY Rangers, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Carolina, even Buffalo (Connolly is not going to be ready...) would like to have any of these players...

It's easier to trade with Eastern conf. teams than with Western.

I think that Holland will go after Sturm, Roberts... Ryder is on trade block - it's time to trade for him NOW...

I don't think so... Can't imagine Sakic in any other jersey - same thing as Yzerman...

Assuming we pick up a player (or two) for draft picks and minor prospects) who's roster spots do they take.... and where do we put the players who's spots they're taking?

IMO, Williams, Hudler and Samuelsson could all be replaced. Hudler has the highest trade value of the three, Williams would be second and Samuelsson has been very underwhelming this season when he's actually been healthy.

He didn't sign him, my guess anyway, other than him not wanting to come here is that it would have pushed the wings too close to the cap or actually over it with his salary for the year. But I think he also liked the idea of going to play with Weight.

As for St Louis helping the Wings what do they care when they aren't going to make the playoffs and both would be rentals? Its not the same as trading away big star that would be on that team for a while.

No thanks. They can keep Nolan and Roenick.

Both are way past their prime and wouldn't fit in well here....jmho

This is hilarious, I want to go back and find the threads that I (and others) started about acquiring Guerin before the season...we were blasted because he's too old, washed up, etc.

I'd take Guerin over Tkachuk because (a) he scores more and (b) he's faster. If we're going to get a second-line winger to play with Lang, it'd better be somebody speedier than a zamboni. Plus, adding Guerin and his relatively smaller contract could mean we'd have room to add Gary Roberts, too.

I was skeptical regarding Guerin.

While his season has been dynamite, I'm still convinced the guy is pretty much a playoff dud, always was, and always will be. He's still better than any of our current 2nd Line options. If the opportunity rises, Holland should act.

After his last season with the Stars it was hard not to think that he was done.

Besides, he's not a physical force out there today, but he still plays with a bit of an edge, which is always welcomed.

A lot of teams thought he was washed up, which is why he signed for 2m in St. Louis.

Didn't Holland say he tried to add Drake at the deadline last year but couldn't clear enough space? Or was that Tyson Nash I'm thinking of? Either way, if Holland was interested in Drake last year I'm sure he has his eyes on him again.

I dont care what Holland has to do, take a fine, defer contract payments over the next 300 years, but i want our team to look like this following deadline day:

Zetterberg

Datsyuk

Holmstrom

Guerin

Tkachuk

Weight

Bertuzzi

Lang

Cleary

Tucker

Sundin

Draper (the no trade clause to satisfy southernwingsfan)

hmmm, maybe on D pick up Brewer to take Lillys spot.

oh yeah, and bring in Brodeur as Doms back up.

... and ... GO!!!

I remember hearing that too last year, but this year I havent heard anything about Drake. I did hear from Ted Kulfan a little while back, however, that Holland was interested in Mayers. If thats the case, I cant blame him. Hes a pretty good middleweight who may not always look to throw done against guys like Laraque or Boogard, but undoubteldy hed take on a Hartnell, Hagman, Mitchell type (all punks whove gone after our guys) if he hasnt already.

Someone must be out of anti-crazy pills. :P

Anyway, the % is against us getting both from STL without losing a great prospect (Flip). I would rather see Guerin and a tough guy from another team (Laraque, Fedoruk) than risk losing too much of the future for a deeper than usual play-off run. If we are going to lose a lot for 2 players, they better be pretty much guranteed 10 goal scorers in the post season. Nashville did not do that, despite the entire NHL pundit world thinking they have locked up the Cup. As far as I'm concerned, they don't have the goalies for it; and in the new NHL, gritty-defense and goalies win Cups (Ward, Brodeur, Giguere[even though he lost and won the Conn Smythe], and Khabibulin) not power forwards.

EDIT: SPELLING
