YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Man, tooling around Birmingham will get you some run ins with the Wings. Ive met Yzerman at Peabody's about 7 or 8 years ago, Brett Hull at blockbusters about 2 or 3 years ago, and now I met Robert Lang - all in Birmingham. But the best part was that I met him at Cheeburger Cheeburger around 5pm yesterday. What was he doing eating burgers for dinner with an early game the next day! Anyway, he was a really nice guy there with his two daughters, one of which talked my ear off. Got his autograph but gotta say, he doesnt look 6'3.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Aww that's great! Langer is really awesome. I met him this September and he was great. Very nice, and pretty darn funny. That's so cute bout his daughters, but I swear I thought they were boys and not girls?! Brooke and Kelly, right? When they showed him with the whole thing of him and Huds at his house I thought at least one of his kids was a boy!
Rice 42 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 That's cool, it's always awesome seeing a player off the ice. Lang lives right by my friend in Birmingham. Last year I saw Rip Hamilton at Best Buy, I didn't say anything though.

The one that was talking to me was the five year old and definitely a little girl. The other was in his lap, but I couldve swarn it was a girl too. My niece's best friend babysits for the Langs. She said Jennifer Lang offered for Hudler to take her to some dance at Marian High School. I guess they're a pretty good bunch. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 That dick told me he was going for subs. He probably knew I was broke and wouldn't spring me the five spot to grab a burger. Geez. Anyways, I don't chill out in Birmingham too much. No Wings sightings for me.

Eating cheesburgers and fat fast food makes you even lazier and suckier! Just messin', that sounds like a good ol' time and it seems like Lang is a good, down to earth quiet guy outside the rink. We're gonna need him in the postseason once again!
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 It's always easy meeting the majority of the Wings after some practices they have at Troy. Very rare that they practice there, but when they do it's definitely the best place to meet them.
Rice 42 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 My friends have had a few run-in's with Wings, unfortunately I haven't. One of my friends saw Lang at the Starbucks on Maple. Over the summer my other friend was leaving my house and stopped next to Yzerman at an intersection.
Redwings-40-5 11 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) Thats awesome man. Where i am at i have no chance to have run into any Wings, but i could have met Scott Hartnell at a Riverkings game (CHL). I decided against that though, not much of a Preds fan. topshelf14 1 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 Last year I got my hair cut up at the salon my wife works at while sitting and chatting with Nick Lidstrom getting his hair cut right next to me. It was a very cool experience, one I will never forget.

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 (edited) I'm jealous of you guys in the Detroit area, who might stumble across a Wing out in public. The closest I've come to meeting a Red Wing other than at a meet and greet at their hotel at an away game one time, was running into Mac and Sean Avery coming out of a Starbucks in San Jose. They were very polite and held the door open, and Mac said, "you're welcome, doll," when I thanked him for holding the door. And Luc Robitaille held the door open for me and my friend at a restaurant in San Jose once, too, but he was an LA King then. I seem to be always going into places they are leaving. Oh, yeah, and I parked next to Sergei Zubov at a mall in Dallas earlier this year. I was chicken and didn't say anything to him, even though he's my favorite Star and I am sure he's a nice guy. Rats. Covenant 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 where's cheeseburger cheeseburger? 15 (Maple) and Woodward, in the Kroger's complex. Very interesting. My girlfriend and I met Langer and his son Jiri @ Dick O'Dow's after the Habs game. Both were pretty saucy. Saucy enough to sign my sweater though!
Zetter is Better 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 I feel bad when people bash Langer because he seems like such a nice guy. Anywho, I wish I could meet some Winged Wheelers .
FinWing 26 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 I feel bad when people bash Langer because he seems like such a nice guy. Anywho, I wish I could meet some Winged Wheelers . I don't think anyone would bash him because of his personality, he just hasn't performed up to par on the ice lately. Those two aspects should always be kept separate. Lilja is probably a nice guy even though he isn't much of a player.
