I went to a flames nashville game , and TooToos parents were sitting underneath me.

The flames fan sitting next to me started laughing at the name on his moms jersey.

He has a couple brothers too , pretty sure they were eskimos. I was laughing the whole game , except for the fact Nashville won.

Tootoo HAD a brother who was also a hockey player. The two were in the minors with promising careers ahead when the brother got pulled over for drunk driving. That very night the brother went out in the woods and killed himself with a shotgun. (he thought he ruined his career with the drunk driving thing). He also left Jordin a note telling him basically, "It is up to you now brother."

You have to imagine that kind of s*** will f*** up a person. I'm no Siggy Freud, but ya think Tootoo is taking a little too much anger out on the ice with him?

Edit: Seems the story is not at all over: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...084276162277_40

"Jordin Tootoo now plays for the NHL's Nashville Predators. Before his NHL debut, he told reporters his first NHL game was dedicated to his brother, saying Terence's voice haunts him, urging him to fulfill his hockey dreams."

Here is a link about the documentary I saw - sure a lot of others here saw it too.

P.S. He is Inuit. First ever Inuit to play in the NHL. If you see the documentary, that is a huge deal to him. After all this (brother killing himself and tell him to go on and be the star + being first NHL Inuit) , you would think the guy could come up with something better than being the new NHL cheap shot artist.

That was an awesome game. A large crowd from Nunavut came down for the game. I think it was a 3 day trip that the made. They had some good seats too in the lower bowl, they had their bodies painted in Nunavut colors and every time Jordin got on the ice (during stoppage of course), they would run up and down the aisle waving flags. It was really a pretty special thing to see.

You don't have to be Freud my friend. I have a friend who's older brother killed himself when we were in high school. He's 32 years old now and happens to be a little guy. We used to raz him about having a Napolean complex and whatnot. Anyway, to this day, if we go out bar hopping, almost every time we got out my friend gets us into some kind of dust up. The last time I left the bar with a bloody nose and a cut on the back of my head and one of my buddies swinging a broken bottle at some guy. That was the last time I hung out with my friend Matt. We always wondered why he was so pissed off and basically we came to the fairly obvious conclusion that being a little guy is just a teeny part of the equation. Having a sibling who commits suicide undoubtedly f-ed him up big time. I have sympathy for Jordin, his family and anyone who has to deal with that. But what he did last night, uncalled for no matter how hard your life has been.

CBC's Scott Morrison has learned that NHL senior vice-president Colin Campbell will conduct a hearing with Tootoo to determine if supplemental discipline is warranted.

As of late Saturday night, Campbell would not say whether the hearing would take place in person or over the phone. The former, a meeting at the league offices, usually guarantees a suspension of four or more games.

In a player's poll ESPN did a while back, they asked who the dirtiest player in the league was. Avery was first, then Tootoo.

I think he's just jumped up to number one.

Jarkko Ruutu was number 2 if I remember correctly, might have been tied with Tootoo, either way this year is his coming out party as of today I'm sure he'd get the number one spot.

Oh, that kinda sounds right.

Actually I found the poll. Ruutu and Tootoo are tied for the #2 spot at 13% of the vote each, still well behind Avery.

I've never liked Avery, but am surprised to see him ranked above guys like Ruutu and Tootoo and Tucker (oh my).

I was just thinking this myself last night. IMO, Avery is nowhere near as dirty as Tootoo is. Avery is more verbal than anything, and at least he doesn't back down from fights when someone confronts him. Plus I can't recall Avery ever taking out a player like Tootoo has.

Then again, I might just be bias because I am an Avery fan. :P

The thing that makes Tootoo worse than Avery in my book is he's such a one dimensional player, Avery at least has some sort of a scoring upside and has toned it done some in recent years. The only use Tootoo has for the puck is it tells him who he can skate 10 strides out of position to hit without an instant interference call.

Agreed. Tootoo is one of those guys who doesn't even need a stick for the way he plays the game.

And it's not surprising that he's worst on the team in plus/minus with a -12.

I give Tootoo the nod over Avery. Avery is at least *sometimes* funny to watch because he acts so weird, like how he does push-ups after he scores a goal. Tootoo is just a dick, plain and simple.

Not only is Tootoo a dick, but he is a no-class piece of s***. He is a thug, plain and simple.

Absolutely. It is really shame the guy is the first Iniut in the NHL and this is what he stands for. - Mr Cheap Shot. Maybe he will wake up and find a better way to honor his brother and people. Hey, don't blame me for saying this, he is the guy who says he stands for all this, not me.
