Not much news yet. This is the most recent I can find:

The Wings played the game shorthanded after the first 24 seconds, when top-four defenseman Niklas Kronwall suffered a right hip injury after he was hit into the boards by Joel Lundqvist. It was a clean hit, but Kronwall got twisted up and left the game, grimacing in pain. Coach Mike Babcock said Kronwall was at the Detroit Medical Center overnight undergoing tests.

Staying overnight sounds a bit ominous...

Anyone else have news?

I've looked, but nothing much else. I think Kronner will have to change his style of play or something, if he wants to stay in the NHL. Or, maybe he's getting all the injuries out of the way early in his career. :( He has no luck, that is for sure.

Doesn't sound too good...

"At this time we still don't have the results back," coach Mike Babcock said. "I guess we've got some preliminary (results), but they're doing more tests so we really don't have much of a statement; we'll have that tomorrow. But obviously, he was not feeling very good."

Kronwall

Defenseman Brett Lebda has been out three games after suffering a concussion when he was hit from behind, but he has been practicing and may play Sunday.

i believe we're screwed...lilja screwed

I don't really see that as being the worst thing ever, mainly because I have faith that when put with Lidstrom, Lilja can play to a level where that pairing is still rather strong overall.

We have seen that when Lilja is properly motivated he can be at least a serviceable defenceman, and hopefully with playoffs looming, and a chance to prove he belongs on this team staring him right in the face he'll find said motivation.

TSN

DETROIT (CP) - Detroit Red Wings defenceman Niklas Kronwall is expected to be out for as much as two months after suffering a non-displaced fracture of his sacrum during Friday's game against Dallas.

The team also announced Saturday that captain Nicklas Lidstrom will miss Sunday's game in Columbus because of a lower back strain.

Detroit has re-called defenceman Kyle Quincey from AHL Grand Rapids and expects to have defenceman Brett Lebda back in the lineup Sunday for the first time since suffering a concussion on March 24.

Sucks about Kronner... Hopefully the Lidstrom thing is just a day off in disguise...

As I said in the GDT, Kronwall is always making that move: spinning away with the puck along the boards... it was only a matter of time until the forechecker guessed right. Too bad he didn't learn his lesson with a bump and a bruise and instead got clocked really hard.

I know it might be sacrilegious to say it around here but i think Lilja has played a strong couple of games.

Why would they say the guy's hurt if he's not? It doesn't sound serious, a minor back strain will heal with a little rest, but if they were simply giving him a game off, they'd just say that.

I'm not really surprised that Kronwall's out for an extended period of time, given how he had to be helped off the ice and barely putting weight on one leg to be helped off.

Looks like Lilja's in for good now even when Lebda gets back, and Quincey's now 7th d-man. It's not all that bad. I'm no big fan of Lilja but he's done real well these past few games, we just got to cut him some slack and hope for the best in him, and Quincey seems to bring a decent all-around game from the limited action I've seen in him. Nothing he excels at greatly, but nothing he just blows brainfarts at either, and he'll throw his body around some it seems.

I'd definitely prefer to have Kronwall in for good over Lilja but this isn't that bad of a scenario once Lebda gets back.

Like him/hate him because he might not be developing still, you have to just feel for Kronwall, the guy just can't catch a break with one bad injury after the next.

Well, except for his turnover that led to the 2nd goal last night. Other than that, he's been fine.
