Nashville's Playoff Behaviour

I hope there's a Wings-Preds series as well.

and for anyone who says that it's not a rivalry, you might want to count the number of threads on the first page dedicated to the preds. All in the middle of your own playoff series with calgary I might add.

I totally agree. If not a rivalry...the Preds are the closest that WE HAVE to a rivalry. I think some people still hang on to the fact that they want a Wings/Avs rivalry...but they aren't a good enough team anymore...and all the players we hated are gone.

In any case, there's always a lot of buzz here when we play you guys. The Preds/Wings matchup would be CRAZY.

Playoff energy x Preds buzz = Awesome Series!

Look at the context of the threads though, it's not like everyone is admiring how good they are, it's all discussing the cheap bulls*** they keep pulling.

people on this board post topics about what is happening in the NHL, if the Boston Bruins were running around trying to hurt people every game there would be just as many topics about them, it just happens to be the Nashivlle Pedators right now, to have a rivalry in the traditional sense you need to have two teams that are equaly good and that BEAT EACH OTHER often. maybe in a couple years Nashville might be up to the task of starting a real rivalry but until then...

How do you get Arnott into that group? I agree that the others have a reputation for one thing or the other, but Arnott??

I am not saying he is a cheap shot artist... I just see him whining and trying to get little shots in on guys when the play is over. Again, I was really surprised to see this out of him in the past couple games... maybe the intensity of the playoffs has messed with his emotions.

what rivalry? against a team that have never ever won a playoff series? and the biggest splash it makes in the league is subsequent "suspend or not" headlines?

oh puhlease... they're not even getting past Sharks this year...

Rivalry or whatever you want to call it, a lot of people here spend a lot of time talking about the Preds.

If hatred = rivalry, then I guess there is one.

And as I said in the other thread, Nashville gets a lot of grief here for being dirty, but seeing how they're cheapshotting a player per game so far, they've living up to the hype.

oh man... it just gets more and more ridiculous around here every day. Apparantly everyone here missed the fact that Cheechoo was supposed to be so injured that he wouldn't play anymore in the playoffs... and then he doesn't even miss a game.

And Radulov has never had anything close to a dirty play. Who actually saw the hit? he barely hit him, bernier's head hit the boards though and that's where the damage was done. Bernier did skate off with some help though (same way the supposedly crippled cheechoo did).

As for "the sharks are going to get their revenge, come after kariya, blabla" anyone saying that kind of stuff didn't watch last night. They were cheapshotting kariya up and down the ice. One guy grabbed weber's jersey on the back of his neck and pulled him down like that (well after the play was over, similar to a horsecollar tackle in football). And then when it was obvious they weren't going to win with 1:00 left, the goon squad came out to start s***.

The diving call on Forsberg last night and Nichol on wednesday, i'm guess no one here saw what BS those calls were. And the calls against Tootoo now are getting way out of hand, since he came back from suspension he can't even look at a guy wrong without getting a penalty.

Now, i'll agree if someone wants to argue that Hartnell, Nichol, Tootoo and Forsberg's reputation get them into more trouble than they deserve. But just because a guy gets his name on the scoresheet for a penalty doesn't always reflect what actually happened on the ice.

Have you ever once-ONCE!!!!!-criticized any dirty thing that any Nashville player has done this year?

Hooooooomeeerrrrrrrr.........

Admit it everyone, it's a rivalry. I also like the whole: It's not a rivalry because we think you're cheap. What were we saying about the Avs back in the day? Yep.

rivalry is when you compete directly for some common goal. that would be Stanley Cup

usually. and until we meet Preds this playoffs there's no speaking of rivalry anyway.

and as for regular season... I wouldn't call this a rivalry. maybe them, similar to Blues,

see it this way, but in my book having an ass spanked 8-0 or 6-1-1 in season series

does not constitute a rivalry. an inferiority complex, if ever.

we grow passionate hatred to Predators because they're our direct competitors in the

division and have a history of gooning our players. but to make it rivalry there needs to

be some common playoff grief. for that we need at least this year meeting, which will

require Ducks beating Wild (seems likely for now) Wings to advance (quite likely if you

ask me) and Predators winning it with Sharks (and frankly, I can easily imagine SJ

winning it). the intensity will be there and neckless coach will definitely add to the

hatred. if so, then I'll call this rivalry. for now I'll leave it at competition and some bad

feelings (based on the reputation) towards the other team

Good post! :)

Edit: I'd like to add: Legionnaire11, you really are a homer, probably one of the worst I've ever seen. I admit, I am a homer to the Wings in some degree. But if someone on the Wings did something dirty, I would call that player out. You, on the other hand, defend these guys like they did nothing wrong. Tootoo and Hartnell especailly. If either of them beheaded someone you would still support them and back them. God damn. What, tell me, is the point you consider when something is dirty? I'm really curious, since I think both Tootoo and Hartnell have already crossed that point long ago.

haven't really read any of that stuff lately. there really isn't much Bert discussion at all, and when we talk about Chelios it's usually based on his whining to the officials and you have to admit that nobody yaps at the officials as much as Chelios. But I think a lot of people on the Preds boards respect chelios as a player and wish that everyone on our defense could be half the player that chelios has been.

 Thanks for the good laugh, no one on that board has mention one good thing about Chelios all season long. Their was a lot of talk about Bertuzzi when the Wings got him and all of it was negative stuff just like when they talk about Chelios.

Admit it everyone, it's a rivalry. I also like the whole: It's not a rivalry because we think you're cheap. What were we saying about the Avs back in the day? Yep.

I admit and their is no denying we have a rivalry with Anaheim, Calgary, Chicago, Colorado, Columbus, Dallas, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Nashville, Phoenix, San Jose, St. Louis, Vancouver.

2 games and 4+ goal against per game.

Seriously, is anyone still afraid of the big, bad Sharks?

One of the reasons I love watching that series so much is that I can't lose, either the playoffs are cleaned of Nashville, or one of the 3 teams I'm actually affraid of in the West gets knocked off.

Wow, your best comment is to make fun of people because of the state/region they live in.

So very enlightening. Thanks for crawling out of your hole long enough to grace us with your amazing grasp of all things hockey.

It's a shame you don't list where you're from in your profile. We could have a great time making fun of Ignorant Assholeville - population YOU.

<_<

Well, what do you expect. This is what the typical Predabilly fan thinks passes for hockey!

and the flame war commences, I'm sure.

hey firecaptain, never noticed that you were from Memphis. Do you get to many Riverkings games?

Good post! :)

show me where i've acted like these guys never did anything wrong? I've always said they were wrong for doing whatever they did, my whole point has always been that the things haven't been as bad as everyone here makes them out to be. Posts on here basically call for these guys to go before the firing squad and a lot of accusations are made against their character from fans 600 miles away who have never seen these guys away from the ice or heard them speak away from the rink.

This year I've been to a few less games than prior years. Having a new baby, wife graduating from graduate school and getting a new job and other factors will do that to ya. ;)

Made 2 of the 1st round playoff series games against Colorado and I'm going to try to get to at least 2 second round games against the hated B-S Mudbugs.

hate the mudbugs.

my sister lived across the street from DCC and was a season ticket holder during the championship seasons so I was able to go to a lot of games when I visited. those were some good years!

Let's keep the whole "nashville is a bunch of hillbillys" crap out of this. I have been down to Tennnessee before and seen that the whole state are not hillbillys like everyone says. Not saying that they do not have any, but every state has some hillybillys including Michigan.

They stumbled a bit in the first round, but I still think they have a slight chance of winning it all this year.

Due to weird CHL playoff scheduling - 6 teams make the first round from each conference. The 3 winners advance, but to make an even number, the highest seeded team to lose also gets moved to the 2nd round. Kinda like a round robin style tourney. After that, the series run as expect.

The Riverkings were #1 seed and got beat by Colorado. They still advanced to 2nd round due to seeding rule as above.

Bizarre.

I was there for both of the championships. Great times.

Ignorance is bliss my friend, but making a comment like that makes you stupid IMO. You can cure ignorance, but you can not cure stupidity. Understand what you say before you type it.
