Bertuzzi OUT for Game 2

In the big picture, this and following matches could be a long haul for the Wings and I'd reather have him as effective and playing at 100%! This should really motivate Rex!

If he is then I want Bertuzzi dammit. If they get to have new toys in the lineup then I want one too.

Here here! :D:D

Well, on a positive note, the lineup we sent out on Thursday played really well.

I agree. Even though I want to see Bert in, I'm all right with him being rested up a little more and unleashed in the dome

The big difference is the type of injury. Head injury >> Leg injury. If you rush a leg injury, you may require surgery or extra rehab, whereas if you rush a head injury you may require a bodybag.

:clap::clap: Cool heads prevail.

Oh well. This lineup had no trouble beating the Flames on Thursday.

I'm also doubting how effective Regehr will be. If today was the first day he skated and he's still a game-time decision I don't think he'll play very well if he does end up getting in. It's different on his end of the ice when you're playing on one leg. Guys like Hank and Pavel won't have trouble beating him if he cant shadow them at all times.

I don't get it. The medical staff already cleared him to play yesterday, why are we still holding him back? Calgary WILL come out more physical tomorrow and it's when we'll need Bert the most.

If he's cleared, play him I say.

True. I don't understand that either.

If the Docs say you're fine and ready to play..then you can.

Maybe he'll be in the warm ups and be a game time decision if they feel they really need him.

Even if they dont need him , WE WANT BERT.

They should cheer that at practise

Sigh... I miss the child-like joy on his face when the opposition picks itself up off the ice, unsure of what just happened or why their everything hurts.

Joy for another day... Get well soon, Todd!

Anyone think that the conditional draft picks based on the amount of playoff games Bertuzzi plays in has anything to do with the decision against his playing tomorrow?

Not really. Wings have been pretty gung-ho about moving picks in the past. It's the salary cap era and all that, but the Wings are smart enough to know that Game 1 was a cakewalk and if they can get some muscle for Game 2 they should take it.

I genuinely believe he's still hurt. Maybe if he had to play he would, but concussions are risky business.

i don't care if bert has a broken neck. if the wings lose game 2 or the players continue to get run at, bert had better be in for game three.

we got him for a reason and this is it. playoff time. if he doesn't play now there may not be a next round for him to get in on.

of course im exagerating but it just sucks that he isn't playing cus id love to see him kill iginla.

The more fearsome fact in this is: the longer he waits, the bigger the pounce.

He is building kinetic energy in that strong body of his, and WOE to he who receives a gift such as that! As Mick'd say:

"It's like he kept squeezin' that tomato can that sat on the counter all the night through, then he finally got sick of holding back and threw it against the wall. And boy'd it splatter all over the place then! Wouldn't want to be the one waking up to that in the morning! Ha, ha, ha!" IPB Image

You may be exaggerating, but the point is valid. If we win tomorrow night's game we'll have a 2 game cushion and Bert can "rest" game 3. If Calgary wins, the series is even and they go back home for 2 games, everyone knows how hard it is to get a win there.

Use our advantages when we have them!

It does suck. I mean, truth be told, the extra rest can only be good for him. So that when he does return he will be tip-top. But I have a feeling with the way game 1 went and ended, it is going to be rough. So we probably coulda used that size and strength. It's on you Lilja.
