Maybe Babcock figures that Sammy shoots from the blueline no matter what the situation is,he might as well put him there on the PP. Sleight 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 What's the deal with the Wings' power play? Every shot is from a wierd angle or the blue line. The puck isn't being worked down low at all. I totally agree, the hudler, flip, and franzen line was awesome. Everytime that Samuelson steps on the ice i cringe, i can't stand him. And, yeah, the special teams are ruining this game for us. The power play has been atrocious, and there really isn't any excuse for it. It's damn hard to figure out. Although it might not be a popular decision, I think if the Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom line continues to be inefficient, you have to split it up for Game 5. They haven't been terrible, but it's not clicking and I think Zetterberg needs to be shaken up. With all that being said, we're right in this game. Still, I'm sick and tired of this incompetent effort when we play in cities like Calgary. I don't care that the building is loud and the Flames are a much better team on home ice. As bad as the Wings are playing..the refs are atrocious. Our special teams is so bad it's almost funny. Our blueline shots..Calgary scores from down low..occasionally shooting from the point. We rely only on the shot from Schneider or Lidstrom to go in..no one else shoots. It's rediculously obvious to whats wrong with the powerplay... Then, the P-Kill. Every other team in the NHL is always on the puck carrier..constant pressure causing mistakes. The Wings give way too much of a cushion, allowing Calgary to set up and shoot non-stop. I cannot beleive how bad the game has been ruined with the crap they call penalties!!! Obvious penaties are NOT called and crap like Datsyuk and Iginla's hooking calls, although Jeromes was closer to being a hook than Dats, but Sheesh, if the REAL game of Hockey was being played NEITHER of those would have been. And neither would half the calls tonight! I'm done! Until Betman is fired and the game is restored, I will not watch another game, even if the Wings go on to win the Cup, my taste buds are ruined! The 5th wing was back in the defensive zone for the 1st goal. Also, if you want to complain about how "good" goals are.. go play in a pick up league where you can be fancy and winning is a pure skills competition. This is the NHL playoffs. One of your goals was a lucky and weird bounce off the boards that went right in front of the net on to Berts stick, so if you're going to whine and pull the "quality of goals" card.. at least get it right. Jeebus. You're right.. they technically only scored on one of the 5 on 3s... but let's add things up shall we... the first penalty was taken at 6:28, the second at 7:16.... now Calgary's goal came at 8:29... so they literally scored the second after the first penalty was over... so if the "4th wing was back in the defensive zone for the first goal", he must be one hell of a power skater. jackass. But no, instead they gave the Flames a second wind... My God, I mean, the Flames are a crappy team that can hardly score goals and there are our fancy Red Wings team struggling once again against the 8th place seed in the first round... PATHETIC!!! Anyway I feel that if Detroit gets by Calgary, they will get destroy in the next round. The Wings are only good playing in a crappy division beating crappy teams (Chicago, Columbus, St-Louis) in the regular season and then losing in the first playoff round... that's it, I've had enough!
